Soundcloud Code for sharing music

Recommended Posts

If anyone else is actually interested in this, please positise sly's first post in this thread to show your support. Regardless of whether Torsten considers this worth making a priority or not, it would be interesting to see how popular the idea is. If it's only me and Sly who actually think this is a good idea, then perhaps it's not worth the bother.

Finally a good reason for the + / - feature.

With embedded youtube technology, I am always more inclined to check something out, and the same would be for soundcloud.

^^^ So is that implying we can get our SC songs to display and function with out the forums code being modified by the admin?

So has the forum upgrade allowed soundcloud embedding?

<object height="81" width="100%"> <param name="movie" value="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F29696057"></param>'>https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F29696057"></param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param> <embed allowscriptaccess="always" height="81" src="https://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F29696057" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100%"></embed> </object> <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/the-rabalthazars/the-rabalthazars-mr-policeman">The Rabalthazars - Mr Policeman</a> by <a href="

Rabalthazars</a></span>

<edit> ok... not that way.

<iframe width="100%" height="166" class="html5player" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F29696057&show_artwork=true"></iframe>

<edit> ok, not that way either. Anyone else know the answer?

It'd never be either of those ways unless the forum was extremely insecure :P (Allowing frames is bad, very bad)

The only one which may work is media.

*Edit: which doesn't appear to like it. Still requires the mod to be installed.

Actually, inserting via the media button was going to be my first attempt, but I can't find it in the new layout. How do we insert youtube clips now? I would have imagined we'd use the same for both?

It's not on the bar (Request to get it added to the bar?) but you can find it by clicking the icon 3rd from the top left that says "Special BBCode" when you hover over it. It looks kinda like a map with a green line through it.

That makes it a bit of a pain considering it's quite a common feature to use. I couldn't find it when I posted a youtube video earlier, so I just typed out the media tags by hand, but the forum automatically added url tags to the url that I put inside the media tags, so the media tags didn't actually work. Then I had to delete the url tags for the video to show up.

There's some cool features here though. Don't know if these were available before by typing tags. I assume not

i tried to install an app yesterday and it went very badly. I won't be trying the soundcloud app until the app installer has shown it can actually do what it is supposed to. give me a few more days.

just wrapping the url in media tags like you would for a youtube video worked for me

actually, just posting the full soundcloud URL to the track is all i did. BBcode recognises the URL and converts it to a media tag.
