Amazonian Posted May 10, 2010 A local garden has these cacti in their front yard. Should I ask for a cutting ? What I am saying is this any thing excieting?
Chiral Posted May 10, 2010 Damn that's a nice plant...man if you get a cutting or 3 I'd love one for trade etc...
shruman Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) A nice Cereus species, not too bad for grafting, edible fruits, looks good, about it I'm afraid but obviously enough to excite some. Edited May 10, 2010 by shruman
Amazonian Posted May 10, 2010 I was hoping it might have been one of those trichocereus bridgesii ? Is it not deeply grooved enough ?
Chiral Posted May 10, 2010 No it's a cereus but not cereus peruvians, possibly pacycereus..sp. still love a cut of it if you get a few...it's a good looking plant, those lower fat branches are way cool looking.
Hellonasty Posted May 10, 2010 Looks like a Cereus Repandus, nice looking plant......for a cereus
Amazonian Posted May 10, 2010 Since I will probably be growing only 1 maybe 2 varieties of cactus, I dont think I will worry about asking the owner of this plant for a cutting since it turns out that it is not the one that I was after ...bummer. Thanks for the ID.
santiago Posted May 10, 2010 why not knock on the door and get some if allowed, come xmas time all you need is a nice pot and pretty stones and you have a unique and totally low maintenaince gift or gifts to give, my uninformed friends seem to love them even if they are just cereus.
