shruman
"Touch is your friend. Run your fingers down the margin of the phyllode. Obtusi will be rough and textured. I don't know what "resinous" means, but basically, the margins of obtusi phyllodes have texture, they are rough, uneven."What I mean is if after you run your finger down the edge you run your fingernail down the edge of a few new tips or a handful of old phyllode you will get a little blob of red resin under younr fingernail. I can see the little globules in my pic esp on the top left phyllode when you blow it up but I can see the same with the naked eye.Yeah thats better MeaniesKeen to hear more on the implexa, seeing as it is an abundant & widespread species, info should be shared. I would think best to exercise some caution with investigating any new plant but espescialy one such as this where stock deaths have occured, probly cyanogenic glycosides, which can be removed by an extended acidic boil (from memory), but whoknows."As reported by G.M.Cunningham et al ., Pl. W New South Wales 364 (1981), stock deaths have been caused by ingestion of green pods"http://worldwidewattle.com/speciesgallery/...xa.php?id=20535
