longfolia?

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i did a couple of searches and found a couple of id threads that look like this acacia. From what i gather, this is a longfolia. Im just wondering if anyone with a little more experience could confirm my suspicions. Thanks in advance! S

Don't think it's longifolia....They have straight phyllodes where this one has curved margins.

Also your climate says Nth QLD and they mainly occur in coastal NSW & upto and around QLD border

Thanks for the replies guys, I am actually about 100 kms south of brisbane at the moment, just for the weekend, Theres alot of flowering around here right now! Beautiful yellows everywhere!

Where is it from?

Looks like a floribunda.

Is it possible to get a shot focusing on leaf as well as flower?

I'll get onto getting that pic.. hope it helps a bit more...

It looks to me that the shape of the tree is one of the most telling signs with longifolia var Sophorae. Very shrub like, sprawled all about the place. And i've never seen phyllodes on one that were that broad.

sorry to steal ya thread!

this has more straight leaves and rounded at the apex. from wat i gather its longfolia? just want another opinion. it has smaller flowers than sethomopod's pic

was found among gum trees and scrub. is it possible to make a cutting grow or do i have to wait for the seeds???

hi sethomopod, pretty sure your first pic if of Acacia concurrens (late flowering black wattle)... i live on the gold coast and these are flowering like crazy at the moment... this species is distinguishable from Acacia leiocalyx (early flowering black wattle) by the greyish sheen on its leaves...this species may contain tryptamines?... and is very fast growing...

hope this helps
