Mr Stay Puft Posted June 2, 2009 My lecture's picked quite a few of these on a recent mycology field trip... these things can continue to grow for up to a week given the right conditions... they will even show geotropism (this means they turned their caps so they were level even though the mushrooms were stored on their sides). But alas you will not get any mycelial growth... and they are thought to be obligate symbionts on certain tree species (pines, oaks, etc.) so without these tree species in the area it is not possible to grow these mushrooms...
