Boomer Season 2009

nice blue staining subs there guys.

As for prints - well if your talking about printing wild specimens they arent gonna be sterile no matter how careful you are. Any wilds will be covered in contams so simple printing is all that is required - then agar then isolating on peroxide agar.

I know of a small paddock. with 2 horses, and 4 pine trees... is it possible that this paddock will produce subs? or does there need to be spores around?

Shroom noob here.. i live at the foot of the blue mountains... and keen to speak with anyone around the sydney area interested in mycology.... I'm in the right area, without much knowledge...

a foaf got some gold tops (subs? or cubes?) from the blue mountains... and i've lived here all my life... but never come across a patch... seems to good to be true... like that time my brother found a stack of porn magazines... i went back to that very place, at the same time every night.. but never got a porn stack of my own...

any other Blue Mountain folk here?

Peace ppl.

Luera is a good spot - dont go bush bashing - subs are more likely to populate disturbed environments like garden mulch and pine bark.

It can be done but its not easy. I took clumps of myc back from a wild patch to my parents place years ago while at uni. The garden has tonnes of woodchips with rotting debris and older chips underneath and moisture from mist sprayers watering the plants. Nothing really happened and i forgot all about it. A few years later i visited home during May and found a healthy colony growing strong...which I hope is still going. Wonder if my parents ever see them?

Try reading some of Paul Stamets books which outline how to colonise Azures. Subs would be the same technique in principle.

now i was wondering if my gnome was going to eat these how many should he eat ?

he seemed to think three or four for a moderate trip.

he is a decent size gnome of about 75 kg

also how is best to preserve them for the off season.

sorry pic is of poor quality

Hey there htimsgw, First off Welcome to SAB B)

75kg? Geez Thats big for a gnome :P

Is it his first time consuming?

For a moderate experience I would say to have the whole six!

But If he is not experienced then maybe have just 3 or 4 to get a feel for the effects and see how he goes, Then next time maybe he can work his way up to a larger dose!

Remember two specimens of the same size can differ a great deal in potency, so drying & grinding them into a homogenous mix is a much better way to gauge potency.

As for preservation, Dried Boomers can be mixed into melted chocolate and placed in molds or they can be kept in honey, Personally I find 2 heaped teaspoons of Dried Ground shrooms in each chocolate is a good place to start and is easy to dose!

Nice Finds there anyway, I am on the NW Coast as well, Can i ask what city you found them in?

I Hunt in the Burnie area and this is where most of the finds I post will be from.

Its been a good start to the season here this year. I can feel it is going to get even better once some more rain kicks in!

Cheers, MOJO.

Well I had "The Dream" last week and knew they were on the way,I had an idea they had just started and tho it's a 7hr round trip we went for an inspection.

I too had "The Dream" as mesc mentions, It usually Happenes about a week or so before anything interesting begins!

Does anyone else get this phenomenom at the right time of year?

Please share your experiences B)

I had my first sub dream last night :shroomer: - very strange for considering I rarely dream (or recall it). This is the first season I've had a shroom related dream, so it possibly takes a bit of experience with the mushrooms before one can tune into the phenomenon.

Might have to get out this weekend (and in a weeks time) and have a look...

Sweet dreams everyone!

hello DreamingNagual thanks for your reply .

I am about 40 km's west of you but have been hunting around a few places.

The shrooms were found inland a little but not far.

Do you know of any other types of interesting shrooms that grow around the area. a few years ago the gnome tried some tea but he is sure that it was a different type of shroom in there. a little smaller and much darker.

no dont think a blue dirt bike means much to me.

any way the gnome thinks he will eat them all.

Not sure if I have shared this elsewhere on the forum... but yep I do get 'the dream' most specifically that I remember was the first time I ever found mushrooms.

It's kind of a long story but a friend and I had been hunting around for days looking for sub's. All we had to go on back in those days was a standard mushroom id book. The pictures were actually drawings and had descriptions of things we didn't understand like bastidia etc... the best we had to go on was the type of country, (wet eucalypt forest - which in the end turned out to not be where we found them!).

Anyhow, after those several days of hunting for them and finding hundereds of different types we had to leave where we were camping and head home. It was the last night of the camp and we built a massive fire, kinda putting all our hopes in it that had been dashed by not finding any I suppose, all our booze and weed had run out, (I was young and able to smoke back then!) so we turned in early. That night I had a dream.

I was back in medieval times riding on horseback. I had one of those knight style helmets on and some other armor. I was riding with my friend through a pine forest and we were in pursuit of the holy grail, (lol - seriously, the actual holy grail). We weren't rich knights, more your average warrior with fairly shoddy rusting looking armor. At some stage we were being chased by some other people sort of royal types who knew we were onto something with the holy grail. Eventually we lost them and I found the grail!!! It was an old metal cup, not bejeweled or anything but we were amazed! Somehow we also had mushrooms, which we commenced to boil up in the cup.

Then I woke up.

That day my friend and I decided to hitch hike up to a pine forest close by and have a look for amanitas cause I knew they would definately be there having seen them before, imagine my wonder then at finding subs :) it was amazing..

We picked about 30 or so I think popped them in our top pockets and hitched back. Funnily enough a paddy wagon pulled up behind us and asked what we were doing, we said, 'hitching home' they said 'hmmm okay, hope in the back' so we got a ride home with the police lol.

All in all a wonderful first find.

peace
