ballzac Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) Went for a hunt on the weekend with greenhouse and found: An eight inch floppy (didn't even know they existed till I found this and googled it) A coral fungus of some sort Stropharia aurantiaca (of course) These Subs And a wad of stems and mycelium (and caps in there somewhere) that we affectionately refer to as 'the tripping ball' EDIT: Nice subs shroomeup, they look like subs I used to find in Doncaster. poo Posted June 19, 2008 An eight inch floppy (didn't even know they existed till I found this and googled it) What are you like 4 years old? Damn comments like that make you reasses your situation
Shroomeup Posted June 19, 2008 HaHa yeah they are some chunky little buggers. I'll post some updates of them in a few days. Should be interesting after all the rain we just copped here. Ballzy nice pics also. Plenty of those hairy strophs were I am too. Pretty crazy looking things.
ballzac Posted June 19, 2008 What are you like 4 years old?Damn comments like that make you reasses your situation Well, considering that the last 8-inch floppy was introduced in 1977 and was probably well and truly obsolete five years later when I was born, it is not suprising that I had never seen one before. It tripped me out because it looks like a jumbo 5 1/4" floppy...I thought it had swelled up in the rain, lol.
MindExpansion Posted June 19, 2008 Ballzac nice pics man, that fungus on the fungus, the little yellow one and that two headed mutant are really cool. Hahah 8inch floppy my god, you may have found one of the last remaining copies in the world. Amazing the sort of crap that ends up in strange places. Peace, Mind

PD. Posted June 19, 2008 hahaha ballzac, that floppy is almost as bizarre as the atari2600 me and a mate found last time we went out for a stroll and this was in native forests, out tha bush, not parkland in a town or city. Still had a cartridge in it but no controllers damn it

Still had a cartridge in it but no controllers damn it Was it one of the original ones with the woodgrain style panel, or was it one of the little ones with the rainbow stripe? PD. Posted June 20, 2008 haha, yeh one of the older ones with the wood grain veneer finish, was a bit smashed up as you would expect but enough of it remained to see what it was. The cartridge had lost its sticker so no tellin what the game was, im guessin dig dug cause that game was SHIT. Shoulda got a pic, no doubt ill be in the area again though. ballzac Posted June 20, 2008 Gnarly man. I apologise for taking this thread a bit off topic, but I'm hoping most people here can appreciate a bit of technological nostalgia.
MindExpansion Posted June 20, 2008 Lol and strange as technological nostalgia at that. Makes you wonder what that stuff is doing out there, who left it there and wtf they had it out there for. Peace, Mind
ballzac Posted June 20, 2008 You couldn't fit much porn on an eight inch floppy, and I can't think of any other purpose for data storage.

mu! Posted June 23, 2008 Fuck yeah they are some fatties! Can anyone explain why they've gotten fat like that?
apothecary Posted June 23, 2008 Just a hypothesis but I think the fattest one is usually the first pin to form on the hyphal knot. It draws the most moisture and nutrients, so is the biggest. I usually see fat one in the middle of clumps of smaller ones (and have seen some similarly sized fatties in the last few days) which is what made me consider the idea.
