I never understood why anyone would doubt this I bought papaver somniferium form you ages ago, but papversomniferium is illegal to grow, i can see how epople could be confused. Poppy seeds are specifically excluded from scheduling. Although, interesting changes in Qld law in this regard too. Poppy seeds are now scheduled drugs in Qld unless they have been made unviable. ie, you are in possession of a drug if your seeds are viable. I think this means that there is probably a national push to have all Tassie poppy seeds made unviable before shipping, while at the same time clamping down on ethnic imports.
