Nymphaea crystals 10X

Recommended Posts

Just noticed Nymphaea ampla ‘juice’ dehydrated 10X crystals available on SAB. Just wondering if you would drop the whole sachet in a bottle of red for optimum efficiency? Can anybody with prior experience shed some light?

unlike most extracts this one is actually done with water rather than solvent and hence the crystals are quite water [ie wine] soluble. They are fairly large flakes, so it is probably a good idea to grind them a little finer before adding them into the wine. As for dosage I am sure you could use a whole sachet if you really wanted to.

unusual that only water was used as the solvent and not the more usual H20:EtOH blend.

would you consider the effects qualitively different from ethanolic extract?

would you still recommend some quantity of ethanol be consumed with this extract for its synergistic effects?

Some folks have reported little effects from nymphaea in the absence of ethanol. And very good effects if alcohol is thrown into the mix. It would indeed be fantastic to have a extract which could be consumed to good effect, without having to add EtOH to ones diet.

Exciting stuff.

cheers

I think this goes along with the finding that the active constituents are more water soluble rather than solvent soluble.

Stronger and easier to consume. Solvent derived resins are impossible to dissolve unless you sue large amounts of high grade ethanol.

yes. definitely. Nymphaea caerulea doesn't seem to do much without alcohol being present in the body. However, I don't think it needs much alcohol, so this option provides for low alcohol synergy.

Please also note that even though the presence of aporphines in N.caerulea is widely disputed and the effects are probably not due to alkaloids, the same can't be said for N.ampla. N.ampla was originally analysed in the 70's and was shown to contain aporphines, which is where the whole misunderstanding re aporphines and apomorphine in N.caerulea originated [the original paper being carelessly misquoted by drawing together the end of one paragraph with the beginning of the next one]. N.ampla is quite different in effect although it also shares a lot of it's effects with caerulea. ie, it would seem ampla might contain the actives from caerulea PLUS aporphines.
