Psychedelic-induced body abnormalities

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced any permanent or temporary body "malfunctioning" from having taken acid (or any other psychedelic for that matter)? Good or bad?

My mate calls his left eye his "acid eye" due to it being able to move around independently from the other and being able dilate his pupil on command. This change is permanent.

Another friend of mine said that the day after a trip he couldnt move his head from one of his shoulders, like he was stuck lookin at something sideways

Once I was having an extreme anxiety attack and it felt like i was goin back into this bad headspace that i found myself in once after having ingested certain fungus, and my balance would go all fucked.

Share your freaky drug mutations people!

I still have numerous body ticks from my mdxx and stimulant abusing days. mostly around my eyes, my lip and my neck, although back when I was doing it I had them all over my body. my GF and I would bruise the shit out of each other while we were in bed before and during sleep. LOL

Also gave me a lazy left eye that can look pretty slilly when Im sedated or tierd.

my hands kinda take on 'a mind of their own' and start doing weird gesturing, rhythmic clenching and 'flowing' must look like a complete weirdo but it feels sooooooooooooooo good. maybee its my body conveying whats going on inside, to help my mind kinda catch on??

sorry if this may be abit intrusive cycle, but what symptons have you felt or experienced, and what were your personal beliefs about this visual phenomena before 'self diagnosing?

You dont have to answe if you dont want to cycle, i completely understand, as it is a private and personal matter.

Thankyou

YOu bet cycl, I started a thread about it recently.

I went to see a few specialists and they all told me apart from some near sightedness and astigmatism my eyes and neurological aspects were fine (I still dunno about that)

anyway, I suffer from snow quite badly and well as images blurring into my visions is quite low level light and when only looking at things for a very short time.

Luckily I dont have the level of symptoms I used too back when I was an bit of a fiend in my mid teens. I used to have constant phosphine's, extremely glittery snow (rather than the darker colors I have now) and warping and breathing of objects. If I stared at something for longer than 30 seconds I may as well have been on a low level trip.

Luckily that passed after about 6 months of clean living when I moved over to india.

With the snow, it can also be brought on by high ocular pressure, a generally high BP or possibly but not likely glaucoma.

Does it get worse when you stand up?

when you look at a blue sky do they start to glitter and follow patterns, or lines, or do they flash on and off in the same spot?

If the former, its most likely pressure related.

If the latter its mostly likely just visual snow (there are forums for sufferers) and not much to worry about other than it being annoying,.

You can also get visual distortions and phenomenon from astigmatism or the rare chance of a retinal tear or hole (which will included flashes of light and or a major increase is floaters)

Visual Snow - so that's what they call it. I've had it since I can remember as well as most plain surfaces appearing kind of glittery. Taking acid (once I had come down) never seemed to alter this either way.

I used to have permanent trails and shit when I was doing acid regularly (every weekend, sometimes twice on a weekend). The only thing I have at the moment is that when I am really tired my eyes lose muscle control like I am on DXM and I think it is due to my DXM use because I never got it beforehand. It is like going crosseyes but with both eyes pointing outward instead of inward, and one may drop slightly as well, so I get double vision but one image can be above the other which I'm pretty sure isn't supposed to be able to happen.

Thats some freaky shit dudes...

My friend still reports visual phenomena (sim to trip itself), although he expects this is especially enhanced after an exp and gradually decreasing between doses...and also wat jono described eg. making hand gestures that dont exactly have any relevance to what he is saying, oh and of course the increased peripheral vision (both pretty common I think)...certainly nothing I would call negative :shroomer::worship:

Dont misinterperate what I said there yeti, what I meant was, is if you see trailing glittery spots when looking up at the sky or when you stand up quicky (seeing stars) then its normal and just the platlets and blood cells moving around the caplillaries in your eyes,

However if you see them in normal situations, like when sitting down looking at the wall or laying in bed etc. then it is a form visual snow. kind of like the snow you get on an un-tuned TV (although it can be in varying colors mine tend to be blue and yellow or black and white.

Floaters.png

floaters! i wouldn't say they are drug-induced. i actually thought they were micro-organisms but apparently not.

Yeah, I don't think that wiki page is very good but I can be bothered editing it.

This one is better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entoptic_phenomenon

I certainly wouldn't include floaters in that group on entropic phenomenon, they are just a natural age or damage related effect causing formation of little clumps in vitreous gel of the eye as it starts gets more fluid.

You can also get a situation where one gets a huge increase in the amount of floaters in 1 eye, and this is reason for concern because its usually caused by retinal tearing or detachment and you should see a optometrist ASAP.

Back on the subject snow, I think this is a MUCH better example of what visual snow looks like.

The simulator has a function where you can add 'floaters' but these aren't really floaters as much as blue field entoptic phenomenon

(You will need flash to play this.)

That site is the best one I have found so far regarding all these kinds of problems, so if you are suffering from snow, spots, aura, HPPD etc, check it out.

andy....... bless you, motherfucker!

"one sees glittery spots moving in patterns, which is the blood cells moving around the capillaries in your eye."

finally i have an explanation. have to read this thread properly another day.

I'm happy to discuss it

I'm going to separate my description into two parts: "Ordinary states of consciousness visual phenomena" and "Non-ordinary states of consciousness visual phenomena." I don't know whether or not these experiences are considered normal, common, aberrant, or what. But I don't consider them pathological because they don't seem to be causing me any harm. They are often sort of enjoyable. Though I suppose if I experienced an unexpected intense distracting visual effect while driving on a freeway I would probably change my mind. I should also say that I'm very visually preoccupied, looking, seeing, colours, drawing, form, composition, etc have always been a big part of my life. It seems logical that this focus may have some impact on the way my brain interprets visual signals.

Ordinary states of consciousness visual phenomena

Well I experience "floaters" in the circumstances Andy has described as normal. "...glittery spots (or tiny worms) moving in patterns..." describes it very well. And as mentioned I have also seen this periodically for many years.

I have also frequently experienced the staring/melting effect pretty frequently, but this is totally controllable (on/off). It's kinda of like trying to defocus your eyes to see those stereogram images but it works with non-stereogram patterns and sometimes even just blank staring too.

I have also experienced visual "distortions" (??) in my peripheral vision from time to time.

Also "closed-eye" phenomena, blobby fluid patterns made of saturated colour on black.

Non-ordinary states of consciousness visual phenomena

I'm going to preface this by saying that I understand why there are not a lot of discussions about specific experience, because experience is very personal. It can be hard to relate to other peoples states of mind. But I am very interested in commonalities that may occur between individuals in Non-ordinary states of consciousness. So with that in mind:...

I have experienced a broad range of visual effects as I'm sure many of you have. Including, but not limited to: digital patternating skies, faces in the dark outlined in neon auras, lightscape/landscapes which are the same in 360 degrees, breathing vistas, etc.

But the one I find most puzzling is the one that is more subtle but also persistent. Hard to describe but I'll give it a go. Tiny squiggle lines of light. The squiggles are loops in the loose shape of rounded cornered stars. The lines are so tiny as to seem to be almost invisible. And there are millions of them, all pulsing and flowing together in kind of mesh or web which seems to both overlay/outline everything else.

I have surmised that maybe what I am seeing is light itself (radiation). Or maybe I just don't have a clue. But it is a persisting phenomenon. I'm curious if anyone else has any experiences at all like this? It's kinda off topic but also very on.

Sounds like your describing blue field entoptic phenomenon, which is what we have been talking about along wiht visual snow.

Check out the flash animation I posted above and turn on the 'floaters', tell me if its simialr.,

Checked out the links (good finds Andy) and it looks like I experience mild visual snow (only mine is not really monochrome, more multi-coloured if that makes any sense) esp on dark objects and the Blue Field Entropic Phenomenon and muscae volitantes (floaters). I categorise these as normal for me as I've always had them, and it's nice to now know that they probably don't mean that I'm going blind or insane.

I have seen/experienced some other very odd things, but there has always been a psychological/chemical explanation for that. :innocent_n:
