Many marginalised groups use the derogatory slang term amongst themselves. a good examples is the 'n word' among african americans. Gays call each other poofs, queers and fags all the time, because the intention is different. It's a bit of a political statement. But that doesn't give anyone else the right to do so, especially those with mal intent. So, unless tepa suddenly comes out of the closet, these terms are definitely derogatory terms. As for homo, I think the americans use it a a bit and it is also used in germany. Anyway, I didn't even see your use of the word. I was considering giving tepa another strike, but didn't want to do it just for one minor indiscretion. But then I read his other thread and in post #4 he uses homo in the way it is definitely meant derogatory. 2 insults in one day was good enough for me. Personally i don't see a problem in the word being used descriptively or in a way that it is obviously NOT intended to cause offence. And that's really the crux here - tepa has no intentions of not being insulting. he is pushing this homophobe things until he gets banned. It's not like he could recover from the loss of respect he has suffered here anytime soon anyway, so I am not surprised he wants out.
