I've found coconut coir is a lil more elusive than your average medium, just gotta know were to look :)

Try your local hydroponics shop, if there worth their while they'll stock it. Thats where I gets mine!

Never seen it at bunnings, apparently they used to have it but the quality was less than ideal so they pulled it.

If you can't find it don't stress, just use peat instead.

A better idea would be to wait until the cake is nearly spent and then dunk,drain,break-up and use it to infect something like pasteurised paper spawn or wood-chips.

Coco coir can be found in the nursery section at Big -W,hardware stores and el-cheapo shops...I've even seen it at woolies.They come shrink wrapped and compressed in a block about the size of a house-brick and make something like 10 or so L when rehydrated.

Personally I found no real benefit with coir...maybe because it's also a ligneous food source and not as benign as verm as a casing layer.

Trichoderma and cobweb will grow quite well on coir :wink:
