KanJe Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Got this one from a man in Bendigo Victoria, at a cactus farm a hundred years old or so... He said if you were spiked by it a certain amount of times it would give you paralysis. Any ideas? Sorry dont have the software at this PC to rotate the pic... 0 Torsten Posted March 20, 2007 yeah, looks very similar to my Austrocylindropuntia. The nomenclature is all screwed up on these anyway.
0 KanJe Posted March 22, 2007 Thanks Torsten, I havent been able to find it in any books. Would you know if its particually rare?
0 KanJe Posted March 22, 2007 Oh, and do you think it would really give you paralysis? Would be really handy to know for saftey reasons...
0 Torsten Posted March 24, 2007 it's probably only rare because of the renaming. I can't remember the older names, but you can google them. I am not sure about the paralysis. There is a thread on this forum fairly recently about my experience with Trich spines and the pain and swelling they cause me in my muscles. Maybe there is something to the paralysis thing. I'd imagine it is dose dependent and temporary.
0 KanJe Posted March 25, 2007 Should be able to research into it further... Thanks Torsten...
