cacti Id please

A friend of mine has one of these... doesnt look like anything active.. and looks a bit spachish, or red torch like, I am told it appears bluish in the flesh, and a bit glucaus. any ideas?

could be like you said, golden torch or red torch. I would lean toward the latter myself, Echinopsis huascha.
