SaBReT00tH Posted February 27, 2007 Good work man. Did you use some kind of plastic bag as a humidity dome? How many days did u leave it in for, and what temps was it outside? Looks like ur using artificial lights? I've only succeeded in about 2-3 loph grafts out of about 20 or so attempts. Main problem being shrivelling of the scion from not enough humidity usually, or otherwise boiling of the scion due to bits of sunlight escaping through my shed and temps rising to 35 degrees plus

Are you grafting your scion on to an actively growing part of the stock? Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Nice fat pedro you have there by the way bob-bob Edited February 27, 2007 by tonic
bob-bob Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks SaBReT00tH, it is currently sitting inside a bucket with some glad wrap over the top. I mist the sides of the bucket once a day, not directly on the graft. Today is its third day, the photo was taken yesterday. Its left outside no artificial lights and its been about 28 degrees at its hottest with no direct light as it is to cloudy. Man thats gotta hurt, thats a lot of lophs to lose. Maybe bring them inside for the first few days. Surely after one cactus has had its ass cut off and the other its head, a few days of lack of light couldnt hurt and keep up the humidity..
Hagakure Posted February 27, 2007 i got periskiopsis grafts happening and i put them in a tuppaware wiht a thin layer of water at the bottom then a 2 litre softe drink bottle with the bottom cut off over the top. keeps it nice and humid. then as you want to decrease the humidity to get it ready to go outside you can take the cap off the bottle or drain the water out of the tuppaware before taking the bottle off completely. all of this is kept inside with a fluro light on it by the way. rahli Posted October 6, 2007 Nice pics bob-bob. Bet you can't wait to graft the seedlings from the resulting fruit. 8 months full circle is much better then 5 years or so. Thanks for the pics
