ID Please, Is this loph/peyote.

Question

HI, I picked this cacti up at the local market, bears resemblance to loph, but has a few tri-spines on lower part of cacti, can anyone tell me species. thanks, shroomytoonos

The spines indicate that it is not lophophora williamsii. The spines do look very similar to turbinicarpus lophophorides but the ribs and colour look at bit off to me. Also it is a little hard to tell scale but it looks too big to be t. lophophorides.. Perhaps it's one of those rumored hybrids I've heard so much about and seen so little of.

yeah, scale is hard to determine in pictures. Cacti only measures 4 cm across x 3 cm high

thanks Michael, I read a report saying that a specimen was tested revealing no mescaline, does anyone know if it is active, has anyone consumed it? regards

Thought I might add a picture of Matucana madisoniorum for those who cant be bothered searching :P Very nice and does resemble a loph, though very different flowers.
