gerbil Posted January 10, 2007 (edited) Have only ever read texts by Christian Raetsch in collaboration with other people, so was overly excited when I stumbled across audio recordings at Palenque about the Lacandon Indians. Lately listening to talks particularly by Hofmann (Happy B'day for tomorrow) and Raetsch, I thoroughly enjoy their use of verbal language (European accents) especially Hofmann when he is talking chemistry and the sharp distinct breaks he makes when pronouncing chemical names etc. This general link may have been posted before, if you haven't heard Christians talk on the Lacandon and you are interested in such fields you really need to get it, his talks are really quite romantic and moving hehe you can listen to it over and over. His talk on European ointments is very good too. http://www.matrixmasters.com/podcasts/archives/001-015.html If anyone has any audio recordings of lectures or similar relating to American Indian groups (Primarily Central and South), could you please post them in this thread, especially looking for more talks by Raetsch in relation to Plants/Indian culture/Indian Language. Also of great interest are any audio talks by Alexander or Ann Shulgin. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the second half of the Cacti lecture (before contacting Lorenzo at Psyc. Salon)? So far i've found (which is generally all in the above link): Raetsch: What the Lacandon know and think about Palenque Witches Ointments ... A. & A. Shulgin: Cacti A new Elixir 1 A new Elixir 2 Natural Vs Synthetic "Ask the Shulgins" (Burning Man Presentation) Psychedelics and the Shadow (Ann) Thanks Edited January 10, 2007 by gerbil
gerbil Posted January 19, 2007 Apologies, this thread will probably only have some relation to Ethnobotany depending on how you look at it, if it's not appropriate for this subforum please feel free to move it to another. Haven't heard it yet, but here's a lecture by Paul Stamets; Mushrooms as Allies. http://www.tilthproducers.org/tilthaudio.htm A Stamets Radio Interview, have only heard the Sue Supriano one which is pretty good, but short (vaguely recall this may have already been posted?) http://www.fungifun.org/English/Interview Also the Nick Sand audio files from the psychedelic salon are really good, especially the thoughts on prison which although isn't really new information, but it certainly hits deep communicating how messed up the drug laws are and the torture well meaning people go through. Going through what he describes for producing psychedelics shows how appalling our society is in relation to being a mature minded loving society. Synergistic combinations http://www.matrixmasters.com/podcasts/ Reflections on Imprisonment http://www.matrixmasters.com/podcasts/archives/031-045.html Does anyone have any links to in depth audio workshop lectures by Stamets? (not radio interviews) Prefer site downloads not torrents as a 56k connection is all that's available at the moment.
gerbil Posted January 27, 2007 The future of human consciousness talk by Myron Stolaroff is also very good and worth a listen if you get a chance. I'm particularly enjoying the humble nature and togetherness of the older speakers, quite inspiring and moving. The Stamets radio interviews are generally repetitive and frustrating with the interruptions by the hosts, but the longer lectures are quite good as it gives him a chance to let loose.
