Random front garden id

Question

Hey just wondering if someone can id a cactus i have growing in my front yard.

It seems to have 5 ribs and quite hard flesh.

i don't really know anything about cactus species!

looks like some kind of Cereus, defenitly not a Echinopsis (Trichocereus) afaic, but i am far from a cacti expert.

Beautiful plant regardless.

yeah i love the plant.

grows quite fast, and is getting quite large now.

I thought it was going to break and fall over the other day due to the 20knt + winds

Looks like a Cereus Peruvianus.

Not psychoactive...

After looking at lots of photos of Cereus Peruvianus i think it is one.

I don't think it's a Cereus, looks more like a Euphorbia.

Euphorb for sure. Its an african succulent afaik. Not in any way active, but be very careful cutting them - they produce a milky latex which can squirt a fair bit, and has caused both temporary and permanent blindness according to an article I read a month or two back on some cacti site (sorry no idea which one...). Very painful by the sound of the story that I was reading.

i won't be cutting her up, she is too good to look at when i come home from work everyday. :worship:

just hope she doesn't fall down in some of the windy conditions we are having at the moment
