0 Prophet Posted July 11, 2006 Nice Trichocereus pachanoi. I would give it a sunny yet sheltered position and go easy on water at this time of year. You could always plant it in the garden in spring.
0 occidentalis Posted July 11, 2006 Nice Trichocereus pachanoi. I would give it a sunny yet sheltered position and go easy on water at this time of year. You could always plant it in the garden in spring. Personally I'd plant it now. We've had all of about 100mm of rain all winter. If it's your only one and you're a bit precious maybe follow Prophets advice.
0 _e_ Posted July 11, 2006 good score for $10. chuck it in the ground and minimise root damage in doing so.. A good free draining sandy/gravel based soil mix. UTFSE Winter is a great time to plant provided its during a drier period. Looks more like 1m then 40cm...

Do you not think that putting it in the ground or leaving it in it's pot in the rain over winter will be a problem?
0 occidentalis Posted July 12, 2006 Do you not think that putting it in the ground or leaving it in it's pot in the rain over winter will be a problem? Two things: 1. What rain? 2. No, it doesn't seem to be a problem unless the soil stays wet for a long time (weeks) and/or you are in a very cold place (<0°C).
