Where to get 16 gauge needles?

Recommended Posts

Living in suburban melbourne, I went to one pharmacy and all they had were 29 Gauge needles.

Way off a 16 gauge. maybe even a 20 gauge will do.

Im going to ring around pharmacys, but dont think im going to have any luck.

Has anyone found a largish size needle at a pharmacy, or do you have to look somewhere else?

Try our resident myco wizard's website Funky Fungus , Rev should be able to sort out all your needs.

i find 18 and 19 G are fine

if you really want 16G i could help but not for a month because the set cost or ordering and freight is worth more than the needles

suction plus 18 or 19g does a good job in breaking up clumps of myc

You should be able to get them at a pharmacy somewhere. The pharmacys in the closest regional city to me mostly only have the small insulin syringes but one (soul pattison)has any size barrel you need and any size tip(needle), try one of their pharmacys if you can find one.

They are usually cheap too, under a dollar for a barrel and tip.

Yeah, like I said, im looking to suck up LC, not a specific needle size.

So thank you for the offer Rev, but I see now I dont need 16g.

Thank you very much phleb, ill make some calls tomorrow to some pharmacies so hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow.

And if all else fails, ill just order from funkyfungis.

I'm looking to start a poo bulk grow, im trying to grow some moster mushies, say 50+gs wet per shroom :worship: should be interesting

Vets sell 18 gauge needles? can you actually penetrate skin with an 18 guage?

Dude, think about a microchip syringe, how big u reakon that is?

Of course it can puncture skin, sum animals have hides so thick, that thinner needles would simple bend! Vets sell every gauge, I even imagine they have thge 16g if u want it.

:P

I thought the thinner the needle, the easier it would penetrate.

Seems kinda logical, but I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, I know some animals have thick skins, very thick skins.

But wouldnt something thin, penetrate something easier, then something thicker? thats what I was trying to say.

eg, a toothpick would go easily through a peice of wool, but a toothpick would have to be forced harder.

We are talking about 16/18/20 gauge needles here, not something you would find at a needle exchange.

I obviously dont know what im doing, or else I wouldnt be asking for help.

The reason why i said that was, i had a friend who got some needles from an exchange once and all they had was this one bag they gave out. All the same, just a brown bag with some needles and swabs in it.

When asked for something different, they said thats all they had.

But obviously all exchanges would be different, so i retract my previous post.

if all else fails, maybe visit a local piercer/tattooist?

They might let u buy a couple of theirs,

some piercing needles are quite chunky as many people want a large guage ring to begin with

(coz there's less of a "cheesecutter" effect on their new piercing if the ring is thicker).

well u can get 40 needles for $10 (18G blunts or 19G sharps) from me

and 10m l lock syringes x 10 for $6

- less again for the 100 on both counts

just in case u get bored or fed up with dealing with arseholes who suspect you might want to stick an 18G or 19G in your arm - ouch

at least you know ill never ask you stupid questions

most piercers and tattooists will NOT give out needles. pharmacies will usually only carry ~30 down to 18ga needles, but most decent needle exchanges should have 16ga and 14ga, if only in catheter's, which is no problem as you can just slide the plastic sleeve off.

call a few needle exchanges in melb. i am sure you will find 16ga needles with little problem, with the added bonus of them being free.
