alkatrope Posted May 27, 2006 Every now and then I come across Subaeruginosa sovered in little dark spots. I know they're Sub's and they're fully active etc, just wondering if anyone has an explanation as to what causes this? Examples from today's picking. Thanks. occidentalis Posted May 27, 2006 Beautiful, never seen anything like that. They need to be cultivated, to determine whether it is caused by a genetic or environmental influence. All in the interest of science ;).

PD. Posted May 27, 2006 WOW I get alot of subs that also have this colouration but nowhere near the extent of that. I just assumed it was some sort of insect damage as the younger, viscid mushies rarely seem to have it, only more matured semi dry specimens. One patch in particular seems to get alot of these "stained" ones popping up, although this patch is the last to fruit out of all the ones i know of around here. It would be good to finally find out what really causes this. Sweet find alkatrope.
alkatrope Posted May 27, 2006 Thanks Where I found these, there was a bush track and all of the Subs on one side where normally coloured, then the majority on the otherside were like these. Probably got 50 or more of the buggers. But yeah, curious as to what it means.
occidentalis Posted May 27, 2006 Would you like a spore print? Thanks, but I have way too many other projects happening I was thinking you should do the cultivation (somewhere legal, preferably)
alkatrope Posted May 27, 2006 Hehe ok. Yeah maybe I'll consider it.. But also have things happening atm and don't have the time (or effort )
spiders Posted May 28, 2006 id guess that its some sort of enviromental thing - the stems and gills on those seem strange for subs however.
in_spirit Posted May 28, 2006 hey is there any chance of getting some prints, at least one?? Spread the joy!!
alkatrope Posted May 28, 2006 hey is there any chance of getting some prints, at least one?? Spread the joy!!Maybe.. They're being dried as I speak so I'll have to run see if there are some still in printable form
Shroom-Aura Posted May 28, 2006 i agree with Phleb i think it is caused by insect damage in young specimens which looks like that when the caps go hygorphanous. I often see that sort of damage on subaes but nowhere near that much
alkatrope Posted May 28, 2006 Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. Just find it wierd the way the perfectly radiate from the nipple..
