Well, after many false alarms we finally found what we're pretty sure are Subs... still waiting on a spore print, but assuming it comes out brown/purple do these seem right to you expert mycophiles?

Also, can anyone tell me how soon it would be worth going back to check the same spot where we found these?

Thanks.

Yeah they are psilocybes.

They look a little old, so go check the spot whenever you like and look in similar spots in the area, you should get lucky.

have fun. :)

Yep they look like the ones :)

As to how fast they will be replaced, if you were looking carefully you would have seen pins coming up.

It all depends on the weather. If you have been getting regular rain then you will probably get a nice flush coming up again soon.

In a nutshell, you lay the caps gill-side down on a sheet of paper/card/foil, place a bowl/cup over the mushroom/s and leave overnight. In the morning gently remove bowl and mushrooms and you have your print.

You can easily find more in-depth method by Googling "taking spore prints".

I didnt realise people were so keen on sub prints - I have a heap from last season sitting around....

They are not very dark and would need to be grown on agar (may not be 100% sterile)...

(awaits barrage of PM's...)
