Hey guys! I’ve been growing/collecting these babies for the past year and was just wondering if there’s any tips anyone can offer me? Anything that leaps out and says “what the hell is this guy doing!?”.. I’m sort of worried about making newbie mistakes. Most of what you see here are cacti I got from herbalistics before I discovered this place.. or at least most of the ones in the hot house are. I’ve done some research into the cultivation of these plants and am reasonably confident I’ve got the basics covered but I’m sure there’s some obvious mistakes I’m making due to my total lack of experience. I’m not exactly horticulturally inclined but these cacti are so beautiful I just felt I had to have a go at growing some of my own. It’s an overcast day, normally they get full sun most of the day. I’m watering them once every two weeks though I didn’t water them at all over winter.. so really I’ve only just started watering them again. I haven’t given them any kind of fertiliser yet. I hope posting this here is ok.
  3. I've been trying to I'd this pach for a while, pretty sure it was from sab probably around 10 years ago originally but not 100% as I didn't do much labelling back then and had a long break from doing much with the cacti. The only pics I've seen that are close I think was just called sab pach #2. I was confident all these pics were the same clone as it looks very different depending on the amount of sun etc. but now I'm not 100% either so thought it's time for some input. I included as many pics as I can Only had the first flower on one of them this last season too if that's a clue at all but most in good sun are fairly small. And hard to see but most of them are starting to show what looks like variagation (?) too
  4. SALE IS OVER!! Thanks to everyone who responded, showed support, and bought a cactus or two. It's been very much appreciated. If you're still keen to get a cut or three you can catch me at Garden States (https://www.entheogenesis.org/garden_states_2019) in the market stall section You will find a cactus in here just for you! I'm massively downsizing my collection of (almost entirely) shade-grown Trichocereus cacti so I'm having a "fire sale" from now until April 15th. There are all sorts of genetics in here: Psycho0, Yowie, Jess, Cactus Country J5/J14/J15 (aka Jims hybrids), Bendigo bridge, countless hybrids (and I really mean it!), distinct unnamed cultivars that I've picked up in my travels along this thirteen year cactus cultivating and collection journey . Propagation has been by seed and cutting. There are freaking old mature plants and little youngins. A pretty decent chunk of the columnar Tricho spectrum is covered here. A lot of the pachanoi (and some bridgesii) you see here, in my opinion, is mostly suited to grafting (or ceremonial use if you're in a country which allows for it) so make me a sweet offer because I'm willing to rid myself of it very easily and quickly. Sale guidelines: everything must go make me an offer! I accept cash, bank deposit and Paypal open to trades but keep in mind that I'm aiming to reduce the number of plants I have serious offers only (time-wasters may be liable to being offended) buyer pays for postage unless you're picking up locally payment secures the sale - I can't stress that enough (using a forum without a payment mechanism leaves you open to serious fuck-arounds from people, sad but true ) sale ends April 15th Melbournians! If you would like to make an appointment to come roam around the garden and work out a deal in person (I'm northside) then simply private message me Visual delights...
  5. Hey guys, Was just after some help identifying these two cacti. I believe them both to be pachanoi but am unsure whether they are the PC clone. Any general tips on identifying this clone would be much appreciated as I have a great deal of trouble discerning the difference.
  6. Hey guys was just hoping for some help identifying these trichocereus cacti. I believe they are all t.pachanoi but I was also hoping if someone can help me determine whether they are the PC (predominant cultivar) clone. I have heard that PC clones have upward facing areoles but it seems that many trichocereus share this characteristic. I have uploaded both side and top views of the cacti in question to help with identification. Sorry I am quite new to this but if anyone could share any tips on identifying PC clones it would be very much appreciated. Much love <3

I wanted to get an updated posting of these variegated crested pachanoi as someone has decided they are tired of watching these on their computer and has decided they want them in their own garden.

    Areole graft pupping

Birthdate 19 March 2018 Today our grafted crested variegated Trichocereus pachanoi is 82 days old and starting to pup. Unfortunately, the pup did not choose the proper spot to pup! Is it cheating if you take a an areole that is starting to pup like this one and graft it or will that get you kicked out of the grafting union?

    30May Areole Graft 38.jpg

    From the album: Trichocereus Freaks

1 month and 15 days and this little variegated crested pachanoi graft still refuses to die. A grafted areole dries out very fast if it has not taken at this size as there is very little tissue being used here. Sure, larger areoles could be used, but that would take all the fun out of it.

  12. Hi, I was given 3 cactus cuts by a friend. I'm 90% sure that the right hand one is pachanoi, but not sure what the others might be. Any help is greatly appreciated. They broke off his plants some time ago and had been sitting in an empty pot in the shade. After I got them yesterday I put them into dry perlite. Is there anything different you would do to root them? Thanks in advance!
  13. TPM x Trichocereus peruvianus Sharxx Blue Grafting Tutorial. Grafts done today! First, we wrap this guy with parafilm. Next, we slice into our stock. We then stretch out another inch i.e. 2.54 cm piece of parafilm to make it thin. We then drape this over our seedling/scion that has already had its bottom cut off with a nice sharp razor. After draping we gently bring down all sides of the parafilm to ensure that a secure covering is present on all sides while taking care not to tip our seedling so that the complete cut bottom portion of the scion remains in contact with the stock. The purpose of this parafilm is not just to hold the scion in place. The parafilm provides an area that will not dry out and does not require humidity which speeds the healing process. Additionally, the parafilm will pop off of its own accord after the seedling has grown sufficiently. Although, you may be tempted to pick at it like a scab on an old sore... you need not remove the parafilm at any stage. Parafilm can be used for larger grafts as well to help prevent drying out and speed up the healing process.
  14. Hey guys! Rainy weather in SE QLD at the moment so thought id ask your opinions on some of my plants. I recently bought a mixed grouping of Trichocereus that came from the friend of an unknown breeder. I was told that most of them were super pedro x psycho0 but there is clearly more going on here and I thought these are good examples of weird unknown hybrids. These unknown hybrids seem to be increasingly common in Australia due to inexperienced or misleading breeders crossing whatever has flowered in their garden and helps confuse those new to cacti. Would love any opinions on these weirdos #1 is the only one that looks like a possible psycho0 x super pedro to me. The original column is very fat and the new growth with wacky yellow spines looks very psycho0 to me. (pics 1-4) #2 looks like it has some cuzco in it, what with the splayed bone white spines on older growth and maybe bridgesii in the mix. (pics 5-8) #3 has the "cordobensis" look to me which I know is a defunct name but apart from super pedro I dont know what to call this fat bastard. (pics 9-12) #4 looks like a pc pach x with cuzco...or perhaps a short spine peruvianus? Yellow short spines when immature, whitening and lengthening with age and fast growing.(pics 13-15) If anyone wants to see more theres plenty more i need identified haha sorry in advance for the poor lighting

Looking for $15 for the slightly scarred mid section piece (1), $20 for the cleaner mid cuts and $25 for the flawless tip. 24/01/2017: Only two mid sections still available... special price for SAB members: 2 for $25... All cuts are super chunky, a little dehydrated from the lack of rain but in great condition. Buyer pays postage of course.
  22. Hi peoples. I have decided to get back into old hobbies and this site helped me out LOADS years ago. Ok long story short I am looking to buy Echinopsis pachanoi, peruviana, and lageniformis seeds. Also Lophophora williamsii seeds. I think one slow growing species of cacti is enough... I want to have a go trying to sow seeds instead of cuttings, I think this would be a much more rewarding experience. Although if I have a hard time finding seeds then I can be happy with cuttings. Also I rather buy from users here as I don't trust some sites honesty with the species they provide, plus I figured its better to support people here that can put the money to better use. Please and thank you!
  23. Here is a wide and closeup of my new wild Matucana pachanoi pup. Here is the original mother of this pre-collection in habitat: And here is the same of my new pananoi var. L.E.R. The LER I got from Mallacht is WAY fatter than the three I got directly from L.E.R. back in the 90's. The spines seem smaller too, but that is going from memory. They might have been selling cuttings from several seed-grown or separately selected clones. I wouldn't have purchased them at all but they put a "sale" flyer in with some seeds I had purchased.
