  1. These are the seeds I sell and post out. The ziplock bags are small "snack" size, but you can use any size really. Open a bag, spray water in 1 or 2 times. Mostly seal the bag but leave a small opening in the middle. Pinch either side of the 10mm opening and push together slightly to make an opening. Blow the bag up using your mouth then seal it. Give it a good shake to spread the seeds and water around. If the bag deflates just blow it up again, it usually lasts the 2 weeks though. Then put in a dark place at room temp. I did this on 20 August 2021. The rest of the pics were taken 2 September 2021. As you can see germination rate is still good, around 80%. These were harvested December 2020 and kept in a cool, dry, dark place. If you want to buy any seed it's 23 bucks for 150x seeds, all in one bag from tree number 4 which is Vienna White/Pink (running low on others), including tracked postage. Message me here or [email protected]
  2. I have searched the web and found many answers, but this forum seems to have the most credible knowledge. I have tried germinating directly into soil that I mist regularly. I have used moist paper towels inside of a plastic bag or inside of a plastic box. I have soaked them in GA3 for 24 hours before trying the aforementioned methods. I have used a heat mat... Thusfar, my germnation rate is about 5 out of 40. I have never lost a seedling to dampening off, but most of the failed seeds become covered in black or grey mold. Is warmth advisable? How moist should the medium be kept? Once they sprout how much watering do they need? ( I know that they prefer less when they are older) I have been able to find many suggestions and tips to get me started but if someone has a solid method I'd really appreciate it. Thank you for your time!
  3. Trying to revitalize an old rootbound Catha that was given to me. The rootball was dense. I have a patio to grow this on in a container. Not sure of the variety of C edulis. Living in Sydney my potting soil/ soil additives must be purchased at a store. I have searl seedling mix bags few bags of perlite not sure what ratio mix any advice for growing Catha Edulis in pots what soil mixtures to use. Clay pot setup size. Right now it is in 50 Searle seed starting mixture and 50 perlite in a pot the rootball barely fits in looking to get a bigger clay pot and Maybe better soil mixture. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  5. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to fertilise potted Red and Narrow-Leaf Catha Edulis plants (dosage, type of fertiliser etc). My plants are fairly established now and I wanna give them that xtra boost into the growing season and hopefully even cop a few flowers. All info is much appreciated. Thanks very much Good Growing, Irpini
  6. Hi guys, SWIM bought a few months ago some catha edulis narrow and red leaf seeds, SWIM ended up getting about 20 seedlings seperated into 2 trays, eventually one tray died from dampening off however the other was fine. Then SWIM had to go away for a week, at this stage they each had about 4 sets of leaves and SWIM comes home a week later to find SWIM's beautiful babys have disappeared and half the soil from the tray scattered everywhere. SWIM assumes that a possum or a bird has gotten to them. Obviously SWIM is very upset and SWIM has given up growing them from seed. Does anyone have an established Catha Edulis Red or Narrow Leaf strain plant they are willing to sell for $cash or trade with SWIM (the more established the better) . SWIM is located in Victoria and willing to pick it up. Please let me know if you have one you can sell to SWIM. Thank you so much Irpini
  7. Green seed grow Catha, about 60cm tall from base, starting to bush out nicely. Open to offers. Pickup from Hobart area.

  9. Hey guys, Keen to buy catha edulis, all different type of poppies (gotta love the different colours) and salvia (where you've also gotta love the different colours). Please feel ffree to PM me! Thanks, EG
  10. The big ones are two years old and the littles are less than a year. All of my new growth is coming out shrunken, dry, and brittle. In the past I have had mite problems with these results, but they have cleared with insecticidal soap/ neem oil spray. These plants have been getting treatments weekly and yet they still are ailing. Healthier looking leaves do sprout sometimes but they are misshapen and often speckled yellow. I'm out of ideas... Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  11. I suffer from narcolepsy and dysthymia (long standing moderate depression) I have read that Arab doctors in the 18th and 19th century used to use it for people suffering lethargy and depression and want to grow a bulk amount 50-200 since firstly I havn'nt experience growing them and expect a high failure rate and secondly since the effects are short lived will need a lot of plants in my garden. I will pay gladly for some fresh seeds my email address is [email protected], thankyou
  12. VICE produced a nice video on segment on khat in Kenya in light of the proposed UK ban. It's a nice summary of the system of trade and the economies that depend on the our favorite cathninone containing shrub. Really nice shots of an international culture which I haven't seen detailed anywhere else except the fairly academic book Kenyan Khat. Check it out:
  13. This little Catha was over watered once, had some leaf drop and has since been well cared for but now the leaves are growing back wrinkled and very small. I'm guessing that this is fungus... Is there a course of treatment that I may implement to save this plant? Thanks!
  14. hi! just a pic to show the differences between the narrowleaved and the planthelper. the left is the narrowleaved, i hope to have more pics sooner or later.
  15. this picture shows, 5 Catha (phf2 open pollinated) seedlings, and one of them, shows dwarfism. this is the first time I noticed this with any given plant, under my culture, my luck, I noticed, this early. 2 plants show red narrow leaved traits, than the small plant, and 2 greens. they are all the same age.
  16. Hello all! These little catha babies had a rough start from seed under a single CFL. They are now getting put out in the full sun on my roof when its not raining. They wil spend cold rainy days under a larger group of cfl's than they had before. My question is, is it too late for the two that are really stretched out and leggy? Anyone have some tips or direction for this first timer? Thanks!
