I love this monstrose peruvianus, I like to call it sausage fest, for obvious reasons This isn't witches broom as I've had the comment often. Some close-up porn after the rain: -

Never seen such a rugged skin on any of my other trichos, yet all 3 of my Collana Pichu grafts look like this. Love it, very noticeable even when not up close. -

A recent graft that's turning out to be very pale green, seems slightly variegated it's got a few darker patches. Can't wait to see how it grows. Can't remember who sent me the seeds it was a while ago, but thanks a lot! What species is the CJ clone? Any pics? -

Birthdate 19 March 2018 Today our grafted crested variegated Trichocereus pachanoi is 82 days old and starting to pup. Unfortunately, the pup did not choose the proper spot to pup! Is it cheating if you take a an areole that is starting to pup like this one and graft it or will that get you kicked out of the grafting union?

I counted 6 areoles that seem to be pupping already on this tiny graft. It's a T. santaensis "Pumacayan". -

I have a very few specimens that seem to develop purple coloring after exposure to colder temperatures. Out of my many Huarazensis x Zelly hybrids... these two show a bit of purple. Out of my Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii seedlings I have just one so far that is showing any purple... but I don't have that many of this hybrid grafted either so I'd say this is a pretty good indicator that this last hybrid may throw out purples in a higher concentration and perhaps darker specimens than what I am seeing. Anyway, I'd like to see everyones purples if they don't mind sharing. The few purples from the many Zelly seedlings I have grafted are growing on me. Lets hope this trait stays with them as they mature. And please... post your own purples here my friends as I know I'm not the only one with them.

Yet another reason everyone should graft. The freaks come out to play and here we have yet another Trichocereus seedling that has decided to crest.-

My favorite so far out of the Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii hybrids by Zelly. I absolutely love this one... not that I don't love them all.-

I have some 5 year old trichocereus bridgesii that I sadly haven't repotted in 4 years. The tallest ones in the picture are about 53cm. This year will be a good year for them because not only will they get a new large pot (or pots) but they get to leave the 4 year old store-bought cactus soil mix I used at the time! I'm thinking 1 part garden soil, 1 part pearlite (or pumace) and a small amount of sand for the new soil mix. My question is this: I was thinking about burying them about 10cm deeper than they are now, which would put the thin 1st year of growth under the soil and hopefully make them more stable (see picture with drawn lines and text). Not only is the bottom of the cactus thinner than the top but a few of them are also leaning at the bottom then they curve up to vertical at the top. Is this a bad idea? Will I rot out the bottom? I live in the cold north of the US so they've been grown indoors and have a pretty controlled environment. I'm also hoping by mixing my own soil this time it will be better draining and not rot out the newly buried portion.

Got this plant last year, came labeled as a peruvianus but I've always been convinced it's a cuzco. I'd like some opinions, what do you think?

What species would you say this is?
MeanGreen posted a question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Hey, so I've had this fatty for a bit now and I'd like some opinions on what species/variation this could be. It's a good 8+ cm across and extremely heavy, over 1.6kg for a 40cm cutting. I realize it's most likely a hybrid. My guess from the spination is it has some bridgesii in it. I was told this plant was found growing near a cliff in the wild in Spain. @Evil Genius I'd be particularly interested in your input on this one if possible
