  1. My boss found this cactus from a local dude, he was told that it tends to grow prostrate once it gets larger. I was a bit confused by the geometric nature of the growth but now believe I know what it is. Would like to hear y'alls opinions.

    Looking for Eileen Seeds

Hi guys, I am looking for Eileen seeds. Doesnt matter if it´s crosses or maybe old seed. I wasnt able to receive a cutting from Ed years ago and I am very interested in raising this beauty from seed and if anyone should ever have some available please let me know.
  6. Hi Guys, this is my first competition and it´s basically my way to say thanks to all my friends here who helped me throughout the years. Either by sending me seeds, positive energy or kept me motivated. You know who you are, so take this as my way of saying thanks. I´ll be giving away some of my seeds. I actually wanted to simply make a give-away thread but I did that so many times that I felt like it may be a good time to try something new. As I´d really like to see some of the plants that will grow out of the seeds, I thought a grafting competition would be a nice way to get that accomplished. What everyone will get to get started: 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Peruvianus from Matucana. This is fresh from 2015 and it´s the seed I have in the Trichocereus seed shop. It´s among the best Trichocereus seeds I ever had and I am so happy about it that I want to share some of them with you guys. This is confirmed Matucana seeds, that produces some of the coolest Trichos ever. Good examples of Matucana Perus are Trichocereus Rosei, Sharxx Blue, and some more. 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Tarmaensis This is Trichocereus Tarmaensis, which is some kind of Cuzcoensis relative and has some amazing long spines and grows into a really impressive plant. 1x 30 seeds Trichocereus Knuthianus This seed probably belongs into the Knuthianus group. That´s all I know and I am really interested to see how it will turn out. 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Peruvianus from the Lurin Valley. Well, this is an extremely strong growing form and I can´t wait to see your seedlings. Really rare and some of the best quality seed I ever had. Well cleaned and just very viable. The competition: I will send out 10 packs to some skilled growers on SAB. Everyone who participates should have access to some grafting stocks because the purpose of this competition is to get the coolest grafting until the end of the competition on April the 1st, 2016. The SAB members will vote the most badass pics by liking the posts. The winner is chosen by the most "Likes", though I originally wanted to make it about length. But many men will probably agree that length isn´t everything. As I´d like to see as many successful graftings as possible, I´d prefer if experienced growers participate in this competition but I will definitely not say no to someone that is not really great with grafting and just wants to give it a try. For everyone else I will probably start another giveaway in 6-12 months. Shipping will probably take up to 4 weeks, which is why I chose a longer duration of the competition. But everyone who once sent me seeds and is interested in growing some of them too, let me know. The prize: The winner gets another 300 of the Matucana Peruvianus seeds, 30 viable seeds of Trichocereus Taquimbalensis plus three different bags of my most valuable hybrid seeds. I will also showcase all of the participating plants and winners on Trichocereus.net and the Trichocereus Facebook group to give this competition some exposure. How to participate: Please send me a pm with your complete address, including the name and the country just to make sure I dont send them to the wrong country by accident. Shipping and Labels: I am sending from Germany and want to make sure that everything is correctly labeled for Australian quarantine, which is why I´ve labeled them according to their Import conditions lists: Here and here Trichocereus Tarmaensis . Echinopsis Tarmaensis Trichocereus Knuthianus - Echinopsis Knuthiana Trichocereus Peruvianus - Trichocereus Peruvianus
  7. Hi, Im new here, didn't know where to begin so I thought I would start with a few photos of my plants. I'm mostly a cacti and succulent collector, and my selection is pretty modest but I have plenty of cuttings to strike this Spring and I'm trying out germinating from seed for the first time. I'm from WA so we have a hard time getting any decent plants here, so Im really happy to join SAB and hope to connect with others in our beautiful nanny state. Anyways, heres the ethnobotanical portion of my garden, as a way of introduction. The pachanoi family, I dont know what varieties they are, they have been picked up at markets and random gumtree opportunities. A 54cm spineless scopulicola, with a bit of sunburn from the previous owner. A somewhat etoliated bridgesii I bought from a long time member here who says he doesnt really use the forums much any more. Urban Tribes sourced, grown from cutting, almost 2 years old. Two baby TBMs Cuttings for spring rooting, this is a fat spined scopulicola, its really thick like 12-15cm across depending on the section, I have a few of these from moving a big plant that broke in transport. The roots and stump are buried in the garden. Another piece of that fat scopulicola More fat scopulicola. And more.... Ive even sold a few pieces, theres just so many. Psych0o bridgesii cutting, very pretty clone. Eileen bridgesii clone, apparantly the mother plant randomly goes spineless or monstrose all the time, and it looks like it was doing the spineless thing here before this cutting. Gnosis cuzcoensis clone, Im not to familiar with this clone, dont know much about it but it looks great and those spines are pretty mean. (just found out its a cuzco, thanks SAB.) I guess it is obvious looking at it now from the knobbly shape 'S' form between areoles. The rest of my garden is ornamental stuff, mostly cacti/succulents, pretty modest compared to the some of the stuff ive seen, but i hope it keeps getting bigger and more diverse. Anyways, glad to be here, thanks for having me, from WA.

  14. I do not know much about growing cacti, but i am going to start growing soon. Ive bought a bridgessi and am looking for tips on treating it well. Some questions i have are.. How should i make the soil? I have perlite and am going to get shapagnum moss and good soil aswell as coir. Should i use a fertilizer, if so what should i use? Should i use something like osmocote? And any general tips would be greatly appreciated.
  15. The ongoing controversy of bunnings occasionally selling cacti such as T. Peruvianus and T. Pachanoi has been reported by a number of members on these forums, elsewhere on the internet and within some social networks I'm aware of. Would proof that Bunnings sells legally questionable cacti within Australia put a spanner in the works for future cases where individuals were being accused of possessing the same species? If so, and if it is is deemed an appropriate thing to do? I propose evidence of the availability of T. Peruvianus and T. Pachanoi be collated in this thread for future use of any individual/s facing unreasonable persecution for their gardening interests. If you have photographic evidence of said species being sold in Bunnings, please post them here along with the date and state where the photos were taken. Additionally if you know someone (who isn't you) that has purchased one of these cacti, please post a photograph of the receipt and the cacti together (cash receipts only or receipts where any personally identifiable information is obscured). I look forward to hearing your opinions on the matter and some substantiation of the numerous claims that have been thrown around over the years.

  20. Stumbled upon this beautiful thing today while out walking. Such sexy ribs and it did look a little bloated but what do people think it is? Going to ask the owner for a cutting soon, too sexy not to have!
  21. I just harvested seed from a cross I made of a red-flowered clumping SS Echinopsis hybrid (forget which one exactly, but one of the parents was T. andagalensis) with Trichocereus arboricola. I have some seed available for trade and for people who will definitely grow them out.
  22. I found this at work, it seems to be different from the PC pachanoi we also carry and seems to go 'limp' when it gets really hot. At least I have found a couple pieces that have done this. I found that it resembles my Trichocereus Torres & Torres from SS but if anyone has any idea I would love some help. I was also thinking maybe a tricho X echinopsis hybrid but not sure and there doesn't seem to be a tag in any of them. Thanks!
  23. New pics and prices in the post below.
