  1. From the album: Trichocereus Freaks

Crested Variegated Trichocereus pachanoi grafts 1 month update...
  2. From the album: Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii

My favorite so far out of the Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii hybrids by Zelly. I absolutely love this one... not that I don't love them all.

    Great Dirty Things

I have the following to trade: Schotia brachypetala (seeds and seedlings collected from several trees: one grower called them "great dirty things") Flindersia australis (seedlings) Cereus peruvianus (seeds) In March 2018, I collected seeds from Cereus peruvianus fruits that had ripened and split. The fruit flesh is white, slightly sweet and crystalline. I have sowed a test batch with >80% germination. Please see below for seeds I'm interested in exchange: Chilis (let me know which cultivar/ species) Butia capitata from a tree that produces good-tasting fruit Cereus jamacaru Cereus validus Pilosocereus (let me know which species) Myrtillocactus geometrizans Trichocereus (let me know which cultivar/ species) PM me if interested in swapping (even if you have stuff that is not on my wanted list). Australian residents only. Thanks for your understanding.

    Cuzco or Peru?

Got this plant last year, came labeled as a peruvianus but I've always been convinced it's a cuzco. I'd like some opinions, what do you think?

  6. Tricotyledon (SS02 x SS01) x Trichocereus macrogonus Day 1 10 March 2018 Pictures will be uploaded in real time of this graft to show the natural progression as it unfolds. For those that have their own of this cross... please feel free to post any pictures you may have here so I can see what this baby might look like when it gets a bit older. I try not to miss many opportunities to bang grafting procedures into peoples brains. So, here goes another short one. First label and find an appropriate tricotyledon seedling (scion). Next, wrap your stock with some parafilm. Slice your stock midway through the parafilm wrap you have made. Cover and wrap and your done. So easy, even a child could do it.
  7. Hey, so I've had this fatty for a bit now and I'd like some opinions on what species/variation this could be. It's a good 8+ cm across and extremely heavy, over 1.6kg for a 40cm cutting. I realize it's most likely a hybrid. My guess from the spination is it has some bridgesii in it. I was told this plant was found growing near a cliff in the wild in Spain. @Evil Genius I'd be particularly interested in your input on this one if possible
  8. I have a very few specimens that seem to develop purple coloring after exposure to colder temperatures. Out of my many Huarazensis x Zelly hybrids... these two show a bit of purple. Out of my Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii seedlings I have just one so far that is showing any purple... but I don't have that many of this hybrid grafted either so I'd say this is a pretty good indicator that this last hybrid may throw out purples in a higher concentration and perhaps darker specimens than what I am seeing. Anyway, I'd like to see everyones purples if they don't mind sharing. The few purples from the many Zelly seedlings I have grafted are growing on me. Lets hope this trait stays with them as they mature. And please... post your own purples here my friends as I know I'm not the only one with them.
  9. TPM x Trichocereus peruvianus Sharxx Blue Grafting Tutorial. Grafts done today! First, we wrap this guy with parafilm. Next, we slice into our stock. We then stretch out another inch i.e. 2.54 cm piece of parafilm to make it thin. We then drape this over our seedling/scion that has already had its bottom cut off with a nice sharp razor. After draping we gently bring down all sides of the parafilm to ensure that a secure covering is present on all sides while taking care not to tip our seedling so that the complete cut bottom portion of the scion remains in contact with the stock. The purpose of this parafilm is not just to hold the scion in place. The parafilm provides an area that will not dry out and does not require humidity which speeds the healing process. Additionally, the parafilm will pop off of its own accord after the seedling has grown sufficiently. Although, you may be tempted to pick at it like a scab on an old sore... you need not remove the parafilm at any stage. Parafilm can be used for larger grafts as well to help prevent drying out and speed up the healing process.

    SpineKing.jpg

    From the album: Trichocereus Freaks

This little fellow has spines like no other hybrid seedling I have grown. It is truly one of a kind in that regard. The picture does not do it justice. Thick spines are to die for. I can't wait to see how this little Zelly hybrid progresses.
