Hi all! My mate has a bad infestation of Black Portuguese Millipedes. He collects about 1000 of the critters daily from the inside of his house. It is only a temp house (shed, Donga) till his actual house is built. He has tried all sorts of surface sprays, powders with little results. The only thing that puts a dent in the numbers is ant powder and some water traps. The Millipede's were first found in Port Lincoln SA and have spread to pretty much the whole southern half of Australia. They stink and stain when they are squashed and have also cause train delays in Victoria. The only thing to eat them is the odd spider so they spread rapidly with they lack of preditors. This is a millipede catcher made buy a Perth local You can easily make one out of a ice cream container and a solar light. This is the best control method at the moment but its just not enough I would like to hear other peoples methods for control You South Aussies who live in the hills would have been battling these guys for some time. yeah so please post your control methods peeps

Hi everyone, It's that time of year again when I roll the dice and test my luck with herb seedlings. I've been mostly successful with oregano, mint, thyme and parsley in the past, until they get caterpillars. And it's always the same type, and they eat all the god-damn leaves. Bright green squishy caterpillars. The thing is, while I'd love to go into Rambo mode and spray pyretherin everywhere, I'm unsure I'd like to be eating this stuff myself, much less other non-organic pesticides. Can anyone recommend an effective/safe alternative? I've already tried a mixture of soap, water and finely chopped birds-eye chilies which I let infuse for a while before spraying. Using this did seem to work for a while (and I can personally vouch for it's strength -- don't spray this downwind -- ), until the plants were invaded by more sneaky hellbugs (although it seemed to keep aphids away, at least!). It probably just made the plants tastier and/or the caterpillars very angry...

Hi all! I was wondering what other people's recipes are for green pesticides? I had a problem with sand flies or similar that seems to be under control at the moment and I only used a green pesticide. This is what I used.... 8 chopped Cayenne chillies 4 chopped garlic cloves 1/3 Of a cigarette rollie tobacco A spoonful of un scented soap shavings Add 1 litre of boiling water. Let sit for 48 hours, strain and use Well it's not 100% green but it's close Please share your recipes!
