  1. Hi guys! I am very new to Australian plants.. I have come across 2 sp of this plant today. Both Northern beaches Sydney. I have no idea how to identify them if they not blooming. Maybe someone is willing to help me with the instructions and intro to Acacia world? In exchange I can offer some chemicals and lab equipment Picked today in Northern beaches same three: Same three Another sp found Central cost area
  2. Hey all, I came across this acacia today. I think it could be an acuminata narrow phylode variety. The width, length and colour of phylodes, rods instead of balls, bark,, I didn't cut anything, so wasn't able to obtain the jam smell. I have experienced that aroma and it is sooo good! Delicious ;) it should give seeds in a few months, that'll help i.d. better. If it is what I think then that is great news! As this is a fair way out of its recorded habitat! Cheers
  3. On the podium are five sterile culture containers of Acacia acuminata. Tubes to be auctioned separately. These are aseptically germinated seed, and are suitable for further sterile work, or for deflasking into a suitable environment for garden growth. Once you receive them they are yours to do with as you wish Funds from this auction will be donated to the Seed Saver's Network, to continue their work teaching and mentoring communities in Australia and overseas, encouraging groups to maintain their local, biodiverse and sustainable food resources. Jude and Michel do some of the best outreach work I have ever seen and they have inspired me for several decades now http://www.seedsavers.net/ Auction notes: if you are a successful bidder you accept the terms and recommendations below Plants are approx 2-4cm tall with two explants per jar. They will have another few weeks of growth in them under fresh coolwhite fluro tubes, or indirect light about 200-250 µmol photons/m2/second ( ie about 10-20% of daylight strength- more could cook them ). If plantlets get taller than 7-8cm it can become difficult to remove and handle them aseptically. Auction open to addresses within Australia only, with the exception of WA. I will not ship to WA for quarantine reasons. Cultures are functionally sterile at the time of shipping, but media contains PPM Culture tubes are 150ml, with 50ml culture media containing 10g/L gelcarin. The high gelling agent amount will help, but not entirely prevent root and stem damage during shipping I won't be held accountable for their success in further culture as that relies on factors outside my control. Simple aseptic teks have previously worked for minimal replication of this species. If you post your tek and pics to SAB myself or someone else may be able to help, but that depends on time available to me and clarity of your requests Auction bid includes shipping cost Auction bids open at $20 per jar, and auction closes at midnight on Sunday 28th April 2013 Tube #1 Starting bid $20 Tube #2 Starting bid $20 Tube #3 Starting bid $20 Tube #4 Starting bid $20 Tube #5 Starting bid $20

    acacia id

hi! my memory is never very good, and I thought that this acacia, was an obtusifolia, but it never looked like an obtusi, because the phyllodes are so much more narrow for example. now it's flowering for the first time and it displayed round flowering balls, and not bottle brushes as hoped... tarrena, you know which acacia I refer to.

    Acacia (?) ID

My dear mother claims this tree is an acacia and grows like a pest around these parts (northern Queensland). The species' she thought it might have been have turned out to be incorrect though, can anyone provide an ID? many thanks! -ef
  7. I am about to repot some different Acacias and I started wondering about the symbiotic fungi it grows with in the wild.. the ones I am about to repot are acuminata, cyclops and floribunda and I have a bunch of random others coming along. So I am not sure if all species are supposed to benefit from this fungus, if it is different fungus(or fungi) for different species, where to get it or how much to use. From what I can gather, these may be the relevant fungi: Scutellospora calospora Glomus intraradices Glomus mosseae and they may benefit a range of Australian natives? so basically I am wondering does anyone in WA have a chunk of the right kind of mycelium for this in some dirt? and don't tell me to go scratching in the dirt to get some, unless it just grows everywhere under any random natives (does it?). Is it best to add it when repotting, or can I go ahead and repot and then just dig some in the soil when I get it? Any help or advice welcomed about the repotting generally, so far I am doing it moist and with some seasol Thanks

    (Supposedly) Acacia ID

Hey there, I was hoping that someone would be able to identify this; whatever it is! In regards to distribution etc it was grown by a nursery on the Gold Coast here, and that's all I know. If you could give me ANY general hint that'd be awesome! EH
  11. Hey guys and gals, Am stoked to present my website which tries to show something different within the psychedelic art scene. I try to steer away from repetitive patterns and move straight into novelty. I am totally still learning and starting out, but I am busting my balls in trying to develop new visual tastes that reflect specific moments of visual psychedelia. I am interested in the theory that accompanies pieces, so its not just splashy colour. Each piece is a different code that is unique to itself. It is self-reflexive and talking to itself in the work. This starts a visual loop cycle. There is no ideology - no thing is made to look like any thing. This allows you to start the hallucination process within a contained space. You start to link bridges with other bridges, finding startling results and intricate story lines. It is not abstract art as I am showing specifically this trait. It is hallucinatory realism. It is without an over-riding storyline on top. Patterns are only ever referenced never shown - allowing you to absorb into the novelty of it. Please have a browse around, as I feel this is the community who would be open to new and subtle details of visual language which can only be evoked by those who have seen the world unbound. www.liamkey.com There are 3 other sites that are in the works. One is totally dedicated to being a research portal for artists in the context of Acacia use. www.acaciaarts.com (still being made) And another for anyone who would like to be involved www.theaustraliens.com (still being made). This site will focus on the website design being the art piece. Currently up is www.valleyofnovelty.com which is a randomly loading "gallery". Any psy artists can submit their works to be loaded into the novelty machine. I realise that all my shit is totally at a half way stage, but I am preparing to do a PhD in the field next year. I have a degree and Masters, and have been blocked by an ethics comittee at a University in QLD. I would really like to steer this artistic movement in a very progressive direction. One being to refine the work made to becoming research standard, thus allowing visions captured by artists to adhere to a strict protocol to enhance decipherment. There are many pitfalls when trying to transcribe a vision, and this is why it is just dumped with other design art pieces. More is being described in
  12. Went out for a camping trip with my wife and kids this week. Won't say where, but it was about 2 hours out of Sydney. What an awesomely mild summer we're having! Saw so many of these Acacia obtusifolia in flower. They were everywhere. It looked gorgeous! Thought I'd share a couple of pictures. Also found a little grove of these trees. Any idea what species?
