Keen after exams (Nov 15th onward).

Same difference, I just wish there was a way to be within your rights to collect cacti for ornamental purposes so much frustration right now. After what happened to Myco I decided collecting what are some of my favourite looking trichocereus sp. just isn't a viable option anymore, and I've been slowly but steadily getting rid of my collection ever since

What if you had irrefutable evidence to back up your allegations? I don't mean to ignore the fact that police are likely to try and dismiss a defendant’s claims if they could undermine their attempts at prosecution, but what if you had specific, black and white evidence that the same law was being broken by a large commercial identity? Wouldn’t the authorities be required to act (irrelevant of the original individuals case)? I understand having proof that Bunning was or is breaking the same laws may not be a get out of jail free card (so as to speak), but wouldn’t it raise a few questions on the legitimacy of a law that is only enforced upon individuals who aren’t likely to have multimillion dollar resources available to defend such allegations?

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

haha I like your space saving strategy with the double decker scop/pach -
Spill....? haha I live near you Eatfoo so it would be great to know. Edit: Permatony - I'm currently after red lava rock due to it's mineral make-up. I haven't looked in to hydroton yet, I'll check it out, cheers.

Not sure about postage for the perlite, I travel south of the river allot so it's easy for me to pick up from the grow room when I run out. I expect postage won't be cheap for such a bulky item. There is also this seller with similar priced bags further south and up north of the river. I'd be happy to chip in as part of a bulk order if anyone finds a good source of scoria.

Hey guys & gals, is anyone aware of a good place to buy scoria (red lava rock), other than bunnings? I've had a browse around on the net, but haven't come up with much other than small quantities sold from pet stores in their fish section. Ideally I'd be after a 50-100L of 5-20mm particulate size. Also if anyone needs to re-stock their perlite and hasn't realised how expensive bunnings can be ($25 per 15L) check these guys out (100L for $45).

Moved a few of the cacti to a sunnier part of the garden -
Dang it, should have taken the time to put those seed bags on while they were flowering. These prices do seem a little high... supply and demand I suppose, a fair price is whatever informed people are willing to pay.

Clone ID's & Maybe Monstrose [image heavy]
Ambient posted a question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Recent gardening efforts have prompted me to question what some of these trich sitting around in the yard actually are? I know a few names as far as sp. are concerned, but I'll admit I'm not the best with ID. Do these look like known var or are they just random hybrids? 1. labeled as peruvianus, the two either side were sold as "Psycho0" bridgesii 2. One of my favorites. 3. 4. 5. 6. Two more bridgesii who need repotting. 7. Pach who needs re-potting. 8. Pach who finally got some attention and was repotted 9. labeled as short spined peruvianus but I'm thinking something else. 10. Semi monstrose or just one to many slug battles, what do you think? 11. Edit: deleted my maybe ID's, look forward to hearing yours.- 10 replies

Clone ID's & Maybe Monstrose [image heavy]
Ambient replied to Ambient's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
I can't be sure for 4, 6 & 7, but the rest were planted from cuttings. Cheers for the ID's Michael and Mutant, I had previously thought the Cuzco was a Peru and knew something different was going on with number 11, but hadn't realised it was a cordobensis. Yowie looks right imo after comparing with a google search and following a few links. I'm also wondering if 6 is Eileen, what do you think? Cheers Hookahhead Here's some pics of them together- 10 replies

Hi Alice, sorry for the very very very slow reply, I must have missed your post and haven't been online in a long while. I think the Bunnings ones are blumei, I managed to find a "versa lime" mid last year from bunnings which is quite nice. I'm still on the look out for the "green giant" though and wishing I had paid more attention to your last post. If you still have the one that you thought was the same let me know, I'm sure I can find something to trade
-
Looking for plain Green Coleus, my local garden stores only have the red/green & white/green. it's proving harder to find than I thought. I have L.W. seeds (from last spring) and a number of cuttings cash n cacti to trade, PM me if you can help Edit: (Green Coleus blumei)
-
If you come across "green giant" let me know I'd be keen to trade. I've been trying to track one down for a while, but with little success, I only ever managed to find "versa lime".

Make that two slacklines and maybe a few cacti.
