  1. Cheers dude, a container was about as minimal as I could go (so glad I didn't go for a caravan). Shipping containers have all the properties of a comfortable cave and are lockable too. It's my first 'home' and I love it warts and all. I'll prolly paint it green and grow vines all over it to help it blend in to it's surrounds.

  2. Looks awesome. An experiment you might like to try on one is to poke a couple small holes in the film (with a pin) to reduce condensation and every couple days add another hole.

I did this to all of mine and they all worked out. It may not be necessary at all but it's worth a try.

My thinking is that it would help prevent any rot and also reduce the shock of removing the film in one go.

Keep up the good work man, your grafting looks pro. :)

  3. Also, in my humble opinion I think it would have been beneficial to trim the tail off the slab because as the stock dries out it will curl up and potentially lift the scion away from the stock. Let us know if it succeeds or fails and your thoughts on why. I'm hoping for a big double WIN :)

  4. The story is that the guy who gave it to Micromegas many moons ago said it was Roseii1 and he was a highly regarded and trustworthy source so Micro had no immediate reason to doubt what he had been told.  Unless the guy was accidentally mistaken, or had been given wrong info I guess.

Micro's plant was a big fat upright torch that took a fall in strong wind, a damn fine clone whatever it is. I had wondered because the Roseii1 I'd seen had all been more branched etc rather than torch-like, but that's not exactly proof of anything.

Thanks for the suggestion smithy, I'll have to look into that one.

EDIT: Here's Micro's 2 pics that got me all fired up to begin with. (I'm hoping he doesn't mind me re-posting his pics).

Who wouldn't want a piece of THIS action, and I'm very fortunate to even have a piece. Obviously I plan to spread it far and wide so stay tuned for future releases.

  5. I did it from an ebay cutting that I dropped on the ground. I chopped off the damaged end and threw it in the bin, but then I noticed there were a few savable aeroles and decided to give it a whirl. A lot of work goes into aerole grafts, definitely not as straight forward as a regular tip graft.

The graft and stock were both cut totally flat.

  6. Oh yeah, postage don't exist for these obese ladies, it's a first-class ride all the way home in a double seat. Go the seeds mate they are very fast if you give them heaps of sun and heat. Most trichos will cop a bit of sunburn on a blazing hot day but not these girls, they love it. Must be the overall mass of water that just absorbs all the heat.

  7. Glad wrap and a rubber band, over the top Condom-style. Every couple days I poked a little hole in the wrap until after 2-3weeks it was totally shredded by which time it was due to come off anyway. I was able to stretch it down a bit and hook it over the spines ( one side at a time) and then don the rubber band for good measure. The grafts did nothing for about 2-3 more weeks, then swelled and then finally they popped.

  8. I like to cut at about a foot from the ground so I can come back the following year and do another 'heel' cutting and repeat the process. I also get plenty of basal pups this way.

  9. Inyan, It's true I like to multiply the best ones,  and utilize the riff-raff (PC etc) for grafting stock. I like to cut at about a foot from the ground so I can come back the following year and do another 'heel' cutting. I also get basal pups that way. I have another pic up of an 'Urban Tribes' pach that is a great example of this.

  10. They're very heavy and not cheap at all. I suggest grow a heap from seed, some of them are sure to grow faster than the others and give'em as much sun as possible for fast growth. 40 degree days don't phase them at all.
