    Climate evidence is in.

So full of criticism but they won't even read the reports to begin with. This is why they say "empty vessles make the most sound". What's the point being drawn into debate with uneducated fools? Thanks for persistently sabotaging this thread with so much bullshit. Obviously you are more intent on proving yourself right than debating the issues at hand. You are nothing but a troll.

That's what the scientific community does, scientists regularly review the works of other authors. Any scientist can re-do an experiment and see if their results match up with that of the published paper, they can debate their conclusions, they can add their 2 cents or make reccomendations. This happens all the time. Give me one example of a published work where the works of Flannery or Garnaut's findings are disputed. You said they were full of shit but what would you know? Seriously, the only one full of shit is you, you should be ashamed of that.

How many of you deniers actually bother to read the actual reports? Here's a link to the report itself. http://www.garnautreview.org.au/update-2011/garnaut-review-2011/garnaut-review-2011.pdf It's pretty heavy going so you may like to start with the summary http://www.garnautreview.org.au/update-2011/garnaut-review-2011/summary-garnaut-review-2011.pdf You people really should educate yourselves, if you had to do an assignment it would show that you haven't even read the most critical literature. As for Garnaut and Flannery, they are highly respected in their fields and have published vast amounts of literature. If they were dodgy or unethical the scientific community would have raised concerns already. I think you deniers just like to make it up on the fly sometimes. Oh well, no point arguing with fools.

    An Awesome weekend for Tennis

There's a great match underway between Nadal and Murray, and tomorrow it's Federer v Jokovic! Personally I'm hoping for a Nadal/ Jokovic showdown because it's the French and Jokovic is on fire. But still, it would be nice to see Federer take the record. It's a clash of the titans, Damn good Tennis!

Why did we lose our fur?

Just for the record, I saw on a discovery channel that loosing our fur is what helped us become the top predators. Not only did we loose our fur but we gained very efficient sweat glands. The one major significant advantage of this efficient cooling system is that we can run down our prey over many miles and eventually we will win out. I think they called it 'Persistence Hunting' or something like that. Other animals are limited in how far they can run because they eventually become overheated, slow and fatigued, and this is when we strike. This may have even helped our brains to develop as we started to think and plan ahead, hunt in organized packs and communicate etc. No other animal has a cooling system like ours and losing our fur is a big part of that. Also for the record, My dutch milkmaid gf gets really excited by my furry body, and just the sight of her in that state is enough to trigger the full fury of my animal instincts.

There's 163 references in 'The Garnaut Review 2011' How much evidence do you want? If you want to form such a strong opinion on climate change you should at least read the reports.

    Climate evidence is in.

People, people, don't fear. The problem is solvable and all it takes is for people to decide, one by one, that they want to do something about it. Over time a change begins to take place, and this is what we are beginning to see in politics. Albeit far slower than any ecologist would like. The reason I like to post the latest info is because there is so much mis-information spread by those with financial and political interests in opposing action, ie the big polluters and the political parties that do favors for the big polluters. I try to get to the original reports and speeches so that people can draw their own conclusions rather than hearing it second hand through a biased media outlet like Fox. "We are in an information war and we are losing that war" to quote Hillary Clinton. What can we do? Stopping pollution isn't that hard, it's fighting the all-powerful oil and coal companies that don't want to let go of their billions.

    Plant names and their meanings

Yes, I just love knowing what a plant name means, once you know you can't forget it and quite often see it pop up again and again over time. alata -winged caerulea -sky blue caespitosa -tufted diversifolia -different shaped leaves scandens -snaking/ twining sylvestris -growing wild suaveolens -sweetly scented the list goes on

ground cover for shaded, damp area

There are plenty of invasive species that will grow like monocultures but I would steer clear of them all, use natives! Go for a walk in the bush nearby and find a similar looking aspect and see what is growing there. Take a few cuttings and seeds and get started. You could use rocks to put rings around 3-4 trees that are in a group, add a bit of soil and mulch, and your plants would thrive. Over time you can build more and more garden beds. Natives that like shade would include many herbs, ferns, and vines. Lomandra and Plecteranthus would do well and one can easily propagate hundreds from seed. Of course you may like to add a few other coulourful things as well but the local native species would provide the best foundations.

    Vermiculite and Asbestos

You could buy Australian vermiculite from AVI where I used to work. They were quite proud of the fact that there vermiculite contained no asbestos making it quite rare. Here is a note from their MSDS 'Note: This product has been analysed repeatedly by the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Scotland and AMDEL in Australia and has been found to be free of contamination from asbestiform mineral fibres and has a quartz concentration of less than 0.1%.' Our biggest concern was for quartz dust all around the mine and processing plant. Vermiculite MSDS.pdf

    The Great Global Cooling/Warming Thread

Wow, this one "takes-the-cake"! This has got to be one of the *STUPIDEST* things I have ever read, and I'm trained in Science. What a bunch of easily convinced suckers some people are. I feel really sorry for you guyz, I honestly do. LOL

    Whats in a name?

Mine's just a play on words. I had the term Halcyon days in my head after hearing it a couple times. Which I understand to mean something along the lines of 'the time of childlike innocence' anyway, just as I was typing it in to SAB the play on words just popped into my head, right in the nick of time. I thought how fitting for such a forum. I searched it for a pic and found some weird band from the seventies. I can just imagine what their music might sound like -tripped out stoner rock LOL- maybe I should give 'em a chance...

Dude, you need to lay off the crack, and I ain't talking about drugs lol.
  20. I had mine at quite an early age and after eventually pulling through, it left me more philosophical about existence and life in general. It really set me on a new direction in the pursuit of happiness. I can pretty much attribute it to being surrounded with warped religious people, (including my parents)and an 'artificial' society. But strangely I feel waaaay better of because of it all. Am I just a misfit, or is society really as twisted as it seems.
