Hi guys, I found this beautiful cactus at my mates new house. Wondering if any one could put a name to its face? Sorry for the bad photo, I can't find the other ones that I thought I took.

Thanks for all the advice. Here is an update on what I did. I purchased some courtii seed from eBay. The seeds were placed in a cup, with a quarter of a teaspoon of smoke granules, and just boiled water was poured into the cup. This was then left overnight. The seeds appeared to swell up so I put them in some soil that I had lying around and placed them on a windowsill in my room. In this spot they get warm filtered sunlight for most of the day (melbourne region). So that was three weeks ago, and nothing as germinated yet. Should I be worried, or do they normally take this long to germinate? Thanks in advance.

What I like about SAB is the collection of like-minded people, who are excited about ethanobotany, combined with genuine concern for others wellbeing.

Hi there endofinder, I can't PM because it keeps coming up with an error saying you cannot received any more messages. I was reading that Viridis does not do too well in the colder climates, such as Melbourne. Do you think Viridis would grow indoors in a sunny room in Melbourne? I would really like to give the leaf cuttings a go, and would really appreciate it i could get one, if you still have some left? But if you think that the conditions wouldn't work, then I don't want to waste your leaf cuttings and time. Cheers, P

Hi guys and gals, A mate recently moved into a new house and it came with this rather large cacti. Does any one have any idea what it might be? thanks, P

Hi guys, I am looking for a native psychotria (such as loniceroides) plant, so that I can have a go at grafting etc. If anyone has a spare lying around or is able to take a cutting for me that would be much appreciated. I dont have any coin, but I have things like seeds to trade. Cheers, P

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone has experimented with any grafting of psycotria species. I am manly interested in grafting of species like viridis or cath to any of the native species in an attempt to overcome some of the slow growth due to envirmental condition etc.
-
Just a note: I know that this has been done with success between viridis and cath http://www.australianethnobotany.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1477

if it were legal it would be good to isolate a single genome culture from the flesh of the large ones - seems like a that might be a good strain to develop. wondering about the potency? unfortunately its not legal... -
great!

Hi there everyone, does anyone know of a relaxed doctor in melbourne? I want to get a prescription to modafinil, as i often fall asleep at work etc. My doctor didn't really believe me and didn't give me anything, i feel that the uni ones are just trying to get the bulk bills pushed through! Although i have now been referred to the alfred hospital to do sleep tests. What i am worried about is that the tests will not be covered under medicare and that I will not be able to afford them, as I have heard from a few sources that it can be around $400. I am currently studying full time and working part time and don't have much money to splash around. I have tried using modafinil before and it really helped me stay alert during work. So basically does anyone know of a doctor that is a bit more accommodating? any hints/advice is greatly appreciated. P
