What did you do to your cacti today?

Oh no mutant! I'm so sorry. You have a gift for working with cacti, don't let a set back get in the way.! I've often been inspired by your work, I hope you are able to make a speedy recovery.

    Grafts -Photos & Updates

honestly, the text they were with didn't explain, or was literally in Arabic.Update: I chased these photos around with google search by image. I think they were on kadasgarden garden originally, but the link seems to be broken. The closest I got was a Serbian blog with a link back to kadasgarden. And it wasn't Arabic, it was Persian.

    Show off your freaks

Wow, this is my favorite thread! Zelly, that thing is a beast! I got a t. Pachanoi crest in the mail today from Italy. Sold as trichocereus pachanoi f. crest. Just a little guy, but I like the look of it a lot. I also have what I think is a cereus peruvianus monstruosa, but that's tentative, it looks a lot like the myrtillocactus shown earlier in this thread...

    Aquaculture Thread

I just have a small set up in my basement. Sort of a test for a bigger system in the future. CHOP2, but I added a vertical gardening section to the reservoir return, inspired by legendary UK hydroponic cannabis grower Heath Robinson. I have 6 bluegill in a 50 gallon acrylic tank, feeding a 2x4' grow bed . Tanks, beds, and plumbing probably ran to about 500$ us. Another 100 or so on fish and pump. Everything has been running for about nine months now, it's a pretty amazing machine! It even survived five days without power at near freezing temps somehow.

What did you do to your cacti today?

I took the plastic wrap off my first Lophophora w. to San Pedro grafts. Two of four look great, and it have high hopes for the the others. I'm trying to graft a tbm pup on this one too. I don't think I was agressive enough trimming off the skin around the graft union though.

    Lophophora Wiliamsii natural fertiliser

I'm no pro with cactus, but as I understand it it's all about the trace minerals. I use hydrolized kelp, azomite, and sometimes a pinch of Himalayan salt.

    SS01 X TPM grow log

Amazing work philo! Thanks especially for showing off that Ecuadorean pach x psychonaught, I've got a handful still going from that batch of seed, but my biggest is probably six inches. Theyre really taking off now that I've separated them out and given them some space and fertilized them. I have one that looked like it was going monstrose, I hope so!

    My new Tatt

awesome tat, I just found a small, 2" x 3" maybe ivory relief carving of this image in a bazaar in turkey. which is extremely odd, and there was nothing else remotely similar, or even from the same continent anywhere in any other bazaars. i think i have to go back and buy it, although i would love to know more about it. cheers! self

    has anyone seen "dirty pictures"

I tried to find it a few weeks ago but could only come up with the trailer. Lots of boards buzzing about it since it was shown last spring, but no torrents or even copies available for purchase that I know of. If you know where to find it please let me know.

    Life between Lives

Forgot about this thread... As far as experienced, unequivocal fact goes... I'll add that experiences fade, and what might be felt with absolute conviction one year may not feel as fresh years down the line. Does the truth of the experience fade? It seems to, it becomes a memory, another myth in our individual perpetual self-making. The key, i think, is to pick and choose which of our myths we retain and repeat to ourselves, as thats how our identity is maintained or groomed or shaped. How we tell ourselves who we are, if you will. culture does this, religion too, but I can't trust my culture or religious dogma, so I try to control my enculturation as much as I can. At least then I know what and from what I am. have a good one ~self

Aerole grafting ? any good teks/ links?

haha, so how old is that graft? I think I saw you did it around mid september? so 4 months? or less? Amazing! I recently attempted areole grafts on hydro and dirt pereskiopsis under lights with a tbm, Cereus peruvianus monstrose, and a trichocereus thelegonus crest. I cut the areole pieces pretty small, but saw lots of vascular tissue, more the closer to the areole it seemed in all cases (thinner slices). I used superglue all around the seam. The tbm is about a week old and has swelled, the others are pretty new. I'll let you know how it goes. especially curious about the crest growing out normal or not... have a good one ~self

    ID confirmation

I found one like this at my aunt's house, pretty sure its a c. peruvianus monstrose. It's at least a meter tall! I plan on taking some cuttings the next time I'm over there, overall a very cool cactus. She got it from her husband's brother, who got it from a coworker as a gift. He apparently hated it and tried to kill it by leaving it under a table somewhere. Its much happier now. I'm assuming root as one normally would? (ha) ~self

    Are these pachanoi?

Photo showing this plant (2nd from right) with 4 other cacti employed by Peruvian shamans as "San Pedro". Photo by Anonymous. people have probably noticed this already, but the values and contrast on this picture have really been pushed, I would guess the colors are not accurate, nor are all the super dark shadows/markings. that said, thanks to this thread i can tell the difference between a scop, pach, and sp. Thanks corroboree. have a good one ~self

    Life between Lives

a little off topic, but last spring I spent a few weeks at an ayahuasca center near yarinacocha, peru. I participated in two ayahuasca ceremonies with a shipibo shaman, followed the dieta, etc. I'm going to try to keep this from being a trip report, but here's what I know about past lives. Before my second session I asked mama ayahuasca for a few things, one of which was to show or tell me about past lives. She Did. Interpret this as you will, but to me this is now unequivocally, experienced fact. I am an old man. I have been a human as long as humans have been humans. I have experienced everything all/any man (insert human, but in the vision i was always a man) has ever experienced. I have died a thousand deaths, caused a thousand deaths, a thousand births. This is our human heritage. There is no separation between the individual and individual actions and experiences and all/every human action and experience forward and backward. The ego is the only thing between us as individuals and the entirety of human experience past and future. When we die, the ego dies, and we are again reunited with the whole human spirit, and when we are born, or maybe sometime in the first few years, we grow an ego again, and we lose everything and have to build up our individual knowledge bit by bit again. something like that. If you want to know, you can know. ss Tierra Vida Healing Center
