Help me with tattoo design :)
dionysus replied to ballzac's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
my opinion is you need to match the artist to the design, if i wanted a roger dean style dragon or landscape or something i would go to one of the artists really skilled at that style of work but some artists can work with less information far better and get a more expressive from less information than some of the more 'artsy' tattooists. you seem like you want a solid piece, so i would float your idea around a few places and hear what they have to say, a simple conversation with them will let you know a lot about their talent and willingness to get the best out of your skin. i have to say, though, art is also subjective. i myself am a big fan of basquiat and similar artists so i have done a lot of my tattoos with my own hand (in a sterile manner and with some difficulty) to represent the self done/taught minimilast feel of that sort of of art. choose where to get yours done with your heart, so to speak. -
so, if i sponsor a poor 3rd world child/community am intitled to claim leadership because i offered some money towards my vision of a better future? i support your current vision of a better future, it would be fantastic if we were all free to grow what we like for the reason that we like. this vision isn't solely yours, though, and you are yet to offer anything of substance beyond the makings of a cult of which you have procclaimed leadership. what exactly do you plan to lead? is it to lead people to instead use their drugs for spiritual purposes? is it to lead people who don't otherwise use 'trancendent compounds' to start? abraham walks thousands of miles to unite babylon. bhudda gives up a life of riches, sits under a tree, and dedicates his life to the less fortunate. moses walks for 40 years to free slaves. jesus gets whipped and hung on a cross (or stake, depending who you ask). muhammad looked upon his life as an outcast from tribal life and united arabia. greg sends a few letters and threatens not to eat for a few days... i'd love to see how you spin this one in your texts to resemble the sacrifices of old that reportedly made people 'leaders'.

Brug or Datura ID please
dionysus replied to Paradoxical's question in Plant Identification (non-cactus)
might be worth noting that it could be up to several days for the effects of even a small amount to wear off and any more taken in that time may have a cumulative effect which, in this case, could lead to some pretty bad stuff. caution is really important. -
it was only until this thread and the following quoted post that i started to worry about your motives, greg. striving to become a leader of community (synonymous with commonwealth, general public etc) is something i can't agree with, be it from a pollitician or a friend, in my opinion it is an immoral thing to aim for. all i know is, count me out of the peoples temple of infinite colour agriculture project...

help confirm the identity of my cacti
dionysus replied to myco's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
i didn't mean to suggest it wasn't etoliated from neglect, im quite sure it was, i just meant it was at a similar stage of growth as myco's and it was labelled more correctly than what it may have been 10 years ago in some places. slightly off topic, but a friend bough me a t. scopilicolus from bunnings last week that was entirely rotted on the inside and all sort of purple at the base, none of it was salvageable and they still sold it. shows how much they care. -
help confirm the identity of my cacti
dionysus replied to myco's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
i don't think the vendor would have meant to rip you off, it seems 10 years ago there already was a lot of confusion and mislabeling going on by the people who supplied the vendors and a lot of the time things weren't what they seemed. things seem to be a bit better now, a bunnings near me has an identicle plant for sale (colour and strange thin growth and all, when i saw it i assuemd it to be etoliated growth) labelled as pachanoi. -
help confirm the identity of my cacti
dionysus replied to myco's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
yeah, sorry myco, but those two plants definately aren't T. Peruvianus. also, talk of alkaloid content i don't believe is accepted here. -
you are a wealth of knowledge M S Smith, i'm very glad that if i am to be corrected it is by correct information that i can well learn from. what i said about tom juul's giant was just what i had gathered from around the place over the years, there is a lot of mis-information about pertaining to trichocereus cacti unfortunately.

i love that first bridge, one of the most peculiar cacti ive ever seen.

help confirm the identity of my cacti
dionysus replied to myco's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
certainly no expert, but id say the first is PC pach (syn. pachanot etc) and second the same, the third could be pach x bridge and the fourth a straight pach. edit: missed the second one somehow -
i believe those 4 to each be a peruviana/pachanoi type originaly collected from each corresponding area in peru (huaraz, pucusana, ayacucho and puquio respectively). T huarazensis is also known as "T pachanoi" variety 'tom juul's giant' (i put pachanoi in quotation marks because it is likely not correct, it seems many respected cacti collectors believe it to be its own species and many others believe it to be an old wild collected hybrid, but i don't think any one knows for sure).

in the 'herald sun' article i read it said that they wouldn't/won't be able to just kick in someones door and test their kids hair, but if a kid gets taken by DHS and is all strung out or breathing poorly or something (it wasn't clear on what parameters they would use to determine how nescicary a test was) and then do the test to confirm any suspicion that a child has been exposed to a drug lab. On paper, i think it sounds fine if they only use such powers to protect kids and not arrest as many parents as possible, but i guess we will need to wait and see. also, the herald sun has started saying 'methylamphetamine' instead of ice, has using correct chemical names become an emotive device used to scare people of such things? heroin must have a bad enough name, though, i have never read 6-acetylmorphine in a paper. seems like they use whatever word sounds the most dangerous.

i remember learning about a guy in aus that tried to marry his horse, and when the authorities heard of it they looked up relevant laws and found nothing wrong with it other than that his horse was only 3 years old, didn't let him do it because it was paedophilia or something. so, maybe it would be well possible with an older plant or something. really, though, considering the majority of governments dont let men marry men and women marry women i will be appalled if they let someone marry a plant without fixing other laws.

any metal heads around?
dionysus replied to fydesvindico's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
im glad you dig it xenodimensional, i havent heard much feedback for that i just sort of put it on the internet and forgot about it for a while. I'd be happy to work on a more serious goregrind project with you when you get a bit more time, since the demo i posted i have got a bit better at mastering/producing in general and purchased a better interface for vocal recording so getting something pretty decent out of my end is well possible. edited to say: i also recently bought an 8 string guitar, a goregrind project would be a great way to put it to use. -
have you also had the alcoholic variety(s) of chicha? i think it is prepared somewhat similar to beer, only using corn instead of barley. i would be pretty interested to try some chicha fermented or not, it sounds nice. 'canela' could also be a synonym for 'cachaca', i am under the impression there is a lot of different names and it is a very popular style of distilled liquor in brazil
-
do you mean cachaca (spelling might be a bit wrong)? it is very similar to rum, but instead of being made from molasses it is made straight from the juice of the sugar cane. i'm not the biggest fan, it is very strong tasting, but others disagree and it is the most popular alcoholic beverage in brazil.

have a great time everyone going, and be sure to show the orators an equally good time so they will consider returning . the forum will certainly be quieter for a few days. hopefully next year myself and others that couldn't make it this year will be in a position to join you to support such an awesome event. enjoy!

id be keen for some collaboration, http://hornagrind.blogspot.com/2011/11/gangrenous-meatus-sounds-of-sound-2011.html is a (very crappy) grind demo i made earlier this year for laughs. my vocal/drum work is pretty terrible but my strings i think sound alright. let me know if you would like me to be a part of your project anyway, would be fun. -
'real absinthe' is not available in australia or probably anywhere. although the beverage its self is still made in largely the same way and all valid ingredients are legal in australia, in the 1800's manufacturers used to included various heavy metal salts to give it the luminous yellow green colour that it was famous for. these metals poisoned people and reportedly is what sent some people mad after drinking absinthe. the absinthe here (maybe not the really cheap stuff) still contains thujone to a degree but the best absinthe i ever drank was semi home made from a bought-online kit (stoop these ingredients in a bottle of 150 proof white rum or similar for a while) as the flavour and the 'buzz' were much better than pre-bottled stuff. with absinthe, too, you may want to take it easy. it certainly would be hard to be creative on the verge of alcohol poisoning .
