    Why not use volcanos.

LOL problem is, Volcanoes have a habit of exploding and sending their contents kilometres into the atmosphere where jet streams will carry the ash very large distances very quickly
  4. If there is boiling water coming out of the ground, my guess would be its uncovered a geothermal vein/vent and there is sulfurous gasses being emitted Otherwise it could be a gas pocket that has been hit, and the water is not boiling hot but bubbling with natural gas, probably cause similar symptoms Vanadyl Sulphate (not vanadium sulphate) is a mineral substance not gaseous and therefor I believe it would not be the cause as it seems that people have been getting sick from breathing fumes, not drinking water. it is used as a supplement up to 100mg/day and claims of toxicity at these levels have apparently been based on erroneous data And even Mt Fuji's high levels would still require someone to drink 1000litres to get a 150mg dose

    Why not use volcanos.

Umm, The story you have posted is about methane release in areas where there are methane hydrates becoming disturbed due to permafrost melt Similar hydrates exist in deep ocean and could be disturbed by warming ocean temperatures But nothing about volcanoes, and I don't believe anyone will be considering dumping radioactive material into volcanoes That would be a recipe for disaster

3 day wait proposed for magic mushrooms

I'm not proposing anything, but I believe that this is not a step in the right direction unless the underlyeing problem of illegal drug availablilty is tackled as well, but a move to look politically correct by the local government in the face of national and international pressure. If I were to take action, I would clean up the dealing and improve the environment. The red light district is just street upon street of prostitution, where each window displays a naked woman for hire. The closer you get to the port, the closer you get to the heroin district and the worse the environment becomes, I mean its really scary. like I said there are thousands of dealers, and the cops do not even enter the area. Even in less dodgy areas (but still in the red light district) the cops just walk straight past dealers and the dealers make no attempt at evading the cops. Its only out of the red light district they enforce the law it seems Vondelpark was reffered to as needle park, beacause of its similarities to the zurich park, lots of dealing and no enforcement I wonder if its just a clever ploy to increase the length of tourists stay by several days? Banning shrooms completely would have had too much opposition and been an administrative nightmare, not to mention probably decreasing tourist numbers somewhat What they have done is take action that doesn't make everyone happy or completely pissed off. Very PC, its obviously worked on you Sina , but without cleaning up the availablilty of all the other, and potentially more harmful drugs what has it actually achieved?

3 day wait proposed for magic mushrooms

Have you guys been there? I have, many times, 95% of my family lives there And the shrooms is the second safest option after the buds for someone going there on a mind expanding journey. This will push people straight to the black market dealers, and there are thousands of them, sometimes you will find 10-20 of them on one corner "psss psss charlie coke H" you hear it every where you go If they were really trying to minimise harm to tourists, I think they should first tackle the rampant dealing thats going on. You will probably pick up a supply of E from the taxi driver that picks you up from the airport. I know several people who have Me and my mate got followed around by a dealer for two hours with non stop harassment completely lost in the red light district (where cops do not venture). This was not much fun (specially on a gut full of shrooms). He eventually gave us a hand full of free stuff and told us to come back if we were interested in more As I said Amsterdam is a Three day or less stopover for most people (which is almost too long). With this new idea, you will either have to intend to stay longer if you want to try the shrooms, But more than likely you will just end up going to the dealers (who will no doubt start selling shrooms too) I think this is solely aimed at drastically reducing the shroom sales in Amsterdam and cleaning up their political image If this law is accepted, my advise would be to spend the first day in Amsterdam, book up your shrooms, check out the museums and the heineken factory, take off to a beach side city for a few days smoke some fine herb and then go back and grab your shrooms. Rent a nice hotel room, it will probably cost you 200-300 euro a night, but its worth it. The hostels are full of noisy people spewing and fucked up on drugs. Go check out the red light district when your peaking, you won't believe the depravity till you see it. Then get the fuck out of there!

    Pseudoephedrine

All in all the mixed alkaloids of the herb are best for enjoyment and for the cold symptoms I think (though I only use it to treat colds, and I got a real nasty one now ). I have a couple of medium sized majors that get me through my colds. Just a couple of grams seems to do the trick well and leaves you feeling less jangly. This would have probably 20-30mg of mixed alkaloids They are pretty easy to grow and can survive in cold, hot, dry and sub-tropical environments I can't stand the look chemists give you when trying to get some effective medicine for a cold, at which point you pipe up and say "well that the other shit you're trying to sell me is completely ineffective", which they then begrudgingly agree too Catha can be effective against colds too, but less so I have also found that zinc can dramatically reduce the symptoms of a cold, try it, but you need the forte variety (high zinc)

    Obtusifolia Cold Hardiness

I had one in a pot outside during winter It lived through a -16 a -13 and a couple -9's with the rest of winter being between -7 and -3, some of the frosts were so hard you could see the frost 3m up trees, no snow here during winter, its not really the climate, but we get the odd one in spring and autumn. Our day temps would get up to 10degrees + during those days however. This was last winter, this winter the nights have not been as cold, but the days have been cooler. I suspect snow can have a insulating effect in some cases, and being in the ground would dramatically increase survival chances over potted.

    Pseudoephedrine

ephedrine is better, but not much I hate pseudoephedrine, just makes you feel wired with no nice feelings, anxiety, palpitations, a cold lonely feeling etc. These effects are less noticed when you are actually sick cause you already have low blood pressure, and you already feel so shitty, the lift it gives is a relief. I personally would not recommend this drug as fun to anyone There are several horror reports on erowid from less than what Nabraxas has taken for his cold symptoms, can be bad when combined with alcohol too.

3 day wait proposed for magic mushrooms

Bloody stupid idea Sure, hand out the pamphlets, but there is plenty of info available in the smart shops already, delaying the purchase for three days won't change anything. Problem is Amsterdam is usually a short stopover. It's not actually a real nice place and I wouldn't want to spend longer than three days there if I was staying in the city only By doing this they will push the tourists seeking a quick high into the red light district and to the all too numerous dealers who will happily supply you with just about anything and in doing so increase the risk of personal harm

    Koji mold for brewing sake

There is a sake producer in australia, but I don't know about NZ, they could probably do a culture. I can find out who it is if you want, I have the info here somewhere, I just have to find it, Failing that contact lallemand or lalvin, companies involved in the biotech side of winemakeing. I know a couple of winemakers who have gone into lallemand and work in the fields of yeast, mold and bacterias for use in the beverage market Give me a PM if you want more info IB

  22. I would say most definitely It could just be the way the concept was delivered to a young and impressionable mind during my first 3 years of a science degree, but the evidence is IMO overwhelming I mean the Galapagos finches are the ultimate example where adaptive radiation has occurred through very real changes in habitat. The time period in which natural selection is seen in this example is only a fraction of earths 4.5 billion year life span. The Galapagos islands were turbulent in nature during the evolution of these finches with storms, temperature changes, volcanic activity and relative isolation increasing the rate at which natural selection occurred, but the earth in its entirety has been through many similar periods of large disturbance which would have sped up and slowed down the rate of natural selection at varying periods in the earths history

    attacked cactus

I'd clean it up with a sterilised blade if the damage is pretty ragged and large in area. This will make a much neater and faster forming callus, plus if it was bird/rodent they may well carry microorganisms on them that may increase chances of infection. I would probably bring inside at night and probably reduce light a bit and keep out of extremes while healing initially Some of my lophs got sprayed by an overzealous pest sprayer a few years back and most rotted away completely. 2 survived, 1 of which was more than 50% damaged and is slowly growing out the damage, but was probably set back 3 years. its 5 now and only 1.5cm diameteter
