Sunday Night Safran & Transcendent Compounds - 5th Aug

Yeah that's a really good point and very well said, and I appreciate what your doing that's for sure . I'll def be listening to this one, haven't heard much of that show in a while but I liked what I had heard previously, Father Bob and Safran go together surprisingly well I reckon. Best of luck with it mate.

Sunday Night Safran & Transcendent Compounds - 5th Aug

Awesome this should be good. I've always been a big Safran fan but what annoyed me about the peyote episode was how he just sipped it over a few hours thus probably leading to his mainly negative experience, i guess no one told him how it should of been consumed (as i understand). Also that sounds great Greg and I wish you luck but it has also always annoyed me why religous use is considered somehow better than other uses but I guess its just mainly that thats the only way there is any chance of leniency? Looking forward to it.

    Earliest childhood memory ?

Some great descriptions in this thread. My first memory was burning my hand on a motorbike exhaust, using it to try to stand up so i must of been pretty damn young. Oddly enough I was still really into bikes and that when I was young, then after a pretty long break are back into them now and have been for the last few years, I just wish I could get something bigger (am stuck on a 250 for the forseable future ). And then my mum using Aloe vera to treat the burn, which thinking back was obviously my introduction to useful plants too .

    400th post giveway

Got mine today too , thanks heaps bogfrog.
  5. Hey there, I've been a long term reader here on and off for years (way before join date) and have learned a hell of a lot from you guys as well as always enjoying the varied and usually amusing threads and posts from what seem like mostly very intelligent, thoughtful and like minded people (not to mention all the plant and fungi porn ). But i think its time i try to be a bit more active so what better way to raise my profile than some freebies , even though there have been a few giveaways lately. I have been growing mainly Trichs (and other ethno's on and off) for a while now (7+ years) and so have amassed a pretty respectable collection (have been meaning to post a few pictures for ages so should try to over the weekend) from which i acquired some seed this year so thought i would do a little giveaway. I have received a few freebies myself from generous members here before so would like to keep it going. They are mostly PC crosses and fathers of some of them are not certain but are narrowed down to 2 or 3 species as i didn't label the flowers when hand pollinated but kept the pods separate so each batch has only cross. 25 seeds per pack and each person can pick up to 3 packs (postage included oz only). PC pachanoi X bridgesii (definitely father) - 0 PC pachanoi X scopolicola (definitely father) - 0 PC pachanoi X bridge, peru or scop #1 - 0 PC pachanoi X bridge, peru or scop #2 - 0 PC pachanoi X bridge, peru or scop #3 - 0 PC pachanoi X bridge, peru or scop #4 - 0 Peruvianus X bridgesii (most likely) but could also have been scop or PC - 0 Please reply here with what your after so people can see whats taken, then PM me with your addy and ill send em off on Monday. Enjoy Edit - packs left - Thats it for now but if anyone wants packs of 100+ i could do them for $5 each including postage in oz (and say $2.50 for postage overseas) just PM. Cheers

    Swab test

It's been covered but the only time I've had the swab i had been smoking only 1.5 to 2 hours max before and was expecting to get busted, the first swab I tried to do what you said and pull it over my tongue loosely but that wasn't enough and a senior cop came over and told her to do it again than said "see it's changing now" after the second swab but then a few minutes later i was all clear . It scared the shit out of me though as i was pretty sure i was fucked but i think it comes down to luck if its recent. I had also been smoking something else that they don't test for only minutes before so don't know if that might of helped either. Anyway good luck if you decide to go in. Edit - I would think you should be fine though

A Few Free Trichocereus Hybrid Seeds

That was quick Mira i thought it's usually like a week at least being so far, not bad. I also sent one to Europe but don't know how long that will take. No worries everyone happy to do it. Also just to let ya know the Peru x Bridge seeds didn't seem to have as good a germination rate as the others, even though their all from this season, but then more came up slowly over time so it might of just been that I had let them dry out too quick at one point too early on. Anyway I hope the rest get there, enjoy

    Growing A. floribunda's in pots

On the Australian National Botanic Gardens web site under the floribunda entry for commonly grown acacia's it says under cultivation "A dwarf form which only reaches about 1m high is available commercially. It forms a dense rounded shrub". Sounds good to me but whether its actually available or not is another question.
  11. As someone that loves acacia's but is forever renting i'm wondering if anyone has had much luck growing and maintaining mature acacia's in pots even if kept as more of a bush or something. I have three small floribunda seedlings and they are doing a lot better than my couple of acuminata's, and one obtusifolia which looks very nice at this young stage but cant imagine successfully getting that to maturity in a pot. The floribunda's seem to have a much more compact growth habit so far too which is also why i think they should be able to be grown to maturity in a pot. Also i have read that there is a commercial dwarf variety of floribunda that only gets to 1m tall or so does anyone know if this actually exists and if its available? Its nice growing them from seed but without anywhere to plant them in the ground it seems pretty futile. Cheers.

    Growing A. floribunda's in pots

Yeah that's not a bad idea, i guess its just a matter of being a big enough pot or bag but so far floribunda definitely seems to be the best suited for pots. And if that dwarf variety is available anywhere it would be great to see how it does.

    gone

Seems like awesome prices to me, teasing indeed . I used to have a couple a few years back but they were left out of my care for way too long and died , just wish i had of kept 1 going to prop but what can ya do. And i recently went back to the place were i was amazed to find them in the first place, without much hope in mind being years later but worth a shot, only to find they've actually closed down Me thinks i need to start getting more involved in the forum (been a long term reader but not active) and going to meets and whatnot . Anyway sorry to sidetrack good luck man they look great!

    asexuall lophophoria probagation

yeah i had a similar experience with the first couple of lophs i tried to graft to pedros, i cut the stock too far down so the vascular ring was too thick and they failed. (tried a couple more since then using the tip and have had good success). i was only sure they had failed once i saw a couple of tiny roots come out the bottom while they were still on top of the stock so i pulled them off and tried to root them alone. and now those two are about the same size (almost) as there siblings who were never cut, and still have the root stock which has put out a couple pups. so yeah seems that if a graft fails its probably better to just treat it as a cutting rather than try to regraft.

    virginian tobacco ?

very recognisable plant if grown alone, i use to smoke chop chop for a while a few years ago in west suburbs of mel, yeah 70 for half k then i think, but the only problem i had with it was it was really hard to keep it from developing mould which would always lead to chest infections etc. if you keep it frozen it would be too brittle when thawed and if completely dry a bit too harsh, if you can find a good way to store it it would be worth it but the chest infections are what made me switch back to the ol massively taxed smokes.

    Good ethnobotany/herb use books

Australian Medical Plants (i think thats its title cant check now so not sure of author) is a good one for just aus natives containing anything that has been used as medicine, food, construction etc. there are definately lots of good general herb books but agree that for ethnobotany Garden of Eden is def my fav.

    WANTED: Grandaddy Loph

yeah they have specifically been banned for some reason and last time i tried to list a few pc cuts and plants they were removed under the same criteria even though there are obviously tricks still there, even with san pedro in the name, and the email i got from them under Drugs and Drug paraphinalia stated Trichocereus pachanoi San Pedro as well as peyote. so i asked them to tell me when this happened as i couldnt find anything they would fall under in the prohibited list, and if it is all species of Trich or just pachanoi, just plants or seeds aswell etc. and after waiting over a month sent another one, been over 2 months now and still no reply so i havent tried listing again since then, bit of a worry. i dont know why there are still heaps on there if thats the case but i think my profile must of been red flagged or something cause i tried to sell the book "Indoor Marijuana Horticulture" ages ago not knowing it was banned. sorry to side track. Edit - yeah like whispez said they are illegal in some states which is why buttons are banned but i dont see the problem with trichs, bull shit.

    good hip hop?

Big L was mentioned earlier but is a good one for early dirty US rap, another one killed with a shotgun i think. Nas first album illmatic was always a classic. Plutonic lab codes over colours is one of my favourite oz (mainly hip hop) albums.
