Trying to remember a TV show - 80's

There was one episode of Secret Valley that haunted me for years. There was some guys who had a disease (I'm assuming diabetes in hindsight) and he wasn't allowed to drink coke. Anyway, he snuck a coke and drank it behind a shed and then fell unconcious. I don't know exactly why, but the concept of that freaked me the fuck out. Magical memories of this show.

    Best Bath Salts story yet

This one is a month old, but I don't think I saw it on here yet. Best bath salts story so far, I think. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4521958/Salesman-died-after-bath-salts-sex-game.html
  8. One last thing.... re: eyes open vs eyes closed. I find that the images of your mind can override the images processed by your eyes if you can relax into it enough, both with and without the influence of plants. I'm not sure if I can describe exactly how it works, but it's like your eyes relax and let go of their images and those images become more of a static backdrop for the projections of your mind. Ummm... like if you had a projector and played a film against a wall, it doesn't matter if someone walks past that wall, the film will be projected onto them as well. Does that make any sense? I just did it then to see if I could describe it better..... it almost feels like your eyes go a bit crosseyed or something, or the opposite of crosseyed before your images recede into the background and your mind's eye takes over. That's the best I can describe at the moment, I think.
  9. I visualise easily and always have, since I was a little kid. Always saw stuff vividly when I closed my eyes, although like a few other people have said - the visions were not scripted consciously. I can focus on a vision and "see" what I want without my eyes but the unscripted stuff tends to be more enjoyable. I did take part in a brainwave study once - can't remember much of what it was about but I do remember that when I was hooked up to the EEG machine, the person conducting the study being quite surprised that my brain waves would switchfrom beta to alpha immediately when I closed my eyes. I'm not sure what the norm is, but apparently it was unusual for the switch to be so immediate. Also, just one thing to mention with the visualisation... it's not necessarily always purely visual... much the way visuals from a hallucinogen are felt as much as they are seen. For instance, if I'm watching a scene unfold I might become aware of three rabbits with star shaped eyes driving motorcycles but it's as if they've appeared outside of my peripheral vision and I am aware of their form and activity without actually seeing them. And cos the Secret's been mentioned.... love this take on it. Seriously, the Secret is such a wank. I used to work with a guy (in his 60s) who was completely devoted to it. I think the way things work is that if you focus on something you want to achieve and pour your concentration into it, you'll change your actions to make the desired outcome more likely, whereas "the Secret" insinuates that the desired outcome is not more likely but absolute and due to the universe giving you something because you've asked --- so bloody focussed on material crap as well (although it does also claim to apply to health and happiness in general). I guess one thing in favour of the Secret is that is teaches the importance of being thankful for what you already have. If you start paying attention to the good stuff that happens in your life as opposed to the bad stuff then of course you're going to find yourself more content. Common sense really. Love reading everyone's diffferent takes on the subject....

    think your life is bad?

Shit, that's not nice stuff. I can't truly imagine being depressed, though I've lived with a number of depressives.... how does it get to that stage?

Mood Swings... from ecstatic to terminal

The fact you had a really profound series on thoughts the day before could have been a direct result on the down mood the next day. Are you normally depressed of just kinda normal at your lows? You didn't really specify in your post. If you get depression, I'm probably not the best advisor... the post above will be better. If you're not normally depressed though, I think I can dig on what you're saying. I've found myself a number of times in my life having an experience or a thought that has just made the puzzle pieces fit that little bit better, explained the universe just a little bit more. (both on and off substances) When I have such a profound moment, I am filled with nothing but absolute optimism and certain that my new found knowledge is going to help me get over some of my bad habits, or be more tolerant of people or something like that but then when I next immerse myself into the world of other people, I find that despite my knew knowledge, things are still as ignorant as they were yesterday and that's kinda hard to stay positive about. For me.... things kinda suck for a little while but then something will come up, maybe after a fe days or a week where my new understanding really helps and, fuck, that feels good. So... if you're like that at all... just keep an eye out for the situation where you can utilise what you've learned. It'll come.

    We've got no hope.

    We've got no hope.

I think if heterosexuals have to suffer the agony of marriage, then so should homosexual people. Seriously though, this whole issue just sucks balls. There is simply no valid argument against it. These are the main arguments that get raised from what I've seen: Destroys the sanctity of marriage. What fucking sanctity? How long do most marriages last these days? I think it's something like 60% of marriages end in divorce within three years or some crazy number like that. (don't quote me but if you google it you'll find the real number somewhere in the depths of the internet.) It's unhealthy for a child to grow up with two mums or two dads. And what about the single families? What about kids born to 14 year olds? What about the kid who grows up from the sperm of a rapist? What about kids born to a mother and father where the father beats the mother on a daily basis? What about the kid who gets born in Tasmania? Surely it's better to have two loving parents, regardless of sex who love and care for their child? It's morally wrong cos the church says it is. Hmmm... the church. So it's ok for a member of the cloth to have his "sceptre of god" exalted by a choir boy in exchange for mars bars, but it's not ok for to grown men to agree to spend the rest of their lives together and celebrate that with the people they love? I identify as GLBT and if it had been a man I'd chosen to be the one I wanted to marry, I'd have been fucking livid if that was denied me. Marriage is an ancient tradition of humanity... why is that not open to all humanity> Reminds me of Dr Suess's star bellied sneetch book. I have two friends, both men, in a really loving relationship with a two year old son. That son's is an awesome kid. Outgoing, friendly likes kicking soccer balls. He's way happier than a lot of other two year old kids I see. A lot of the above posts have been about the political stuff, which I agree is what this is about more than anything, but the actual emotional part of it is just shit.

Guy on mushrooms cuts out friends heart

I remember this story from when it happened a few years back... pretty sure there was a thread about it here. I think the consensus was that, if anything, it was amanita rather than psilocybin. I'll try and find the thread.

    Catching a Thief - drumthumper001

Bum City Thrashers, eh? At the moment, this thread is toward the end of the first poage of google results when you type in the band's name. Will this thread climb higher up the google search results if we mention Bum City Thrashers more? I'm not sure how google ranks its results. Bum City Thrashers.

Not good for me, unfortunately, but I'll see if I can swing something to be able to make it. Looking unlikely, though.

    Melbourne Meet Celebrate Spring!!!!

I would really like to make this meet. I'm missing being part of the SAB community. I'm still checking into the corroboree most days but with no internet at home at the moment and a bunch of other stuff that's only just started to settle down I haven't been posting much. If it were the weekend of the 23rd September, I may not be able to make it cos of kid commitments - but one of the weekends either side would be great. If the 23rd suits everyone better, then so be it. Would be a bit sad to miss out though.

    Hooray !

At least yesterday instead of the normal 404 message it had a redirection to the PRISM page. Got a bit of interesting reading out of that. Welcome back Corroboree.
