  1. Rekon this orange stuff is cause for concern?
  2. Hey George, there are a lot of videos on that channel. Can you suggest any to prioritise for translation?
  3. So your intention is to answer these questions? 'I wonder what kind of damage was done from these meds? what are the mechanics behind this process of healing?' If so, specifying the type of medication is probably a good place to start.
  4. Adam Hag and Samyod Chobmark on Facebook have some nice stuff. Can you share the articles you're thinking of basing your method on?
  5. Hey DJ, Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time. I don’t want to assume I know what you’re going through, but I do know anecdotally of a few people who have struggled with mental health issues that seem to have been exacerbated by intensive use of psychedelics. I think drawing your attention to the benefits of the experience, rather than the harms, might be a good way of getting something of value from it. Writing things down can be a good way to start this process, and if you’re comfortable sharing these reflections here or elsewhere it gives other people an opportunity to learn from your experience. Maybe readers will have some insights and support for you too
  6. Cheers sagi, feel free to use the template if it suits. I think it is a great tool for collaborative research, just a matter of choosing an interesting topic and having people willing to contribute. I rekon the psychoactive Acacia topic is interesting but haven't had any contributions so far. Maybe I should promote it on FB...
  7. Returned home after being away longer than planned. A few dead plants, a few sad plants, but on the upside some micro butt grafts seem to have taken which I didn't expect.
  8. Another good ep https://psychedelicsalon.com/podcast-025-cacti-a-discourse-by-sasha-shulgin/
  9. I posted the other day about an episode of The Psychedelic Salon podcast that contained an interview with Keeper Trout. I was surprised to hear KT is an advocate for the reintroduction of cultivated Lophophora to some areas. I had the understanding that reintroducing cultivated plants was typically a bad idea, but KT is definitely an authority on the subject so I did a bit of a review of the literature. I couldn’t find much relevant material, at least using the search terms ‘conservation’ and ‘reintroduction’ alongside 'Lophophora' and 'Peyote' in Google Scholar. The one relevant paper I did find is here https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.03.023515v1.full.pdf This paper implies that the ultimate goal of Lophophora conservation is to reintroduce plants to their native habitat, but that more data is needed before moving forward with this to determine appropriate locations and the potential impact. I recently came across this campaign in the Loph Growers Worldwide Facebook group https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-peyote?pc=fb_co_campmgmtbnr_w&rcid=r01-158775808205-d7938f80697644a7&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_lico%2Bbanner&fbclid=IwAR3cGO36eTjTAb2ZeMaC6BTEVZtwO_7qROshlooyxc7uvISHqDLAA0OeKA0 The campaign aims to cultivate Lophophora, both to satisfy a demand that is troubling in-situ populations and to reintroduce in-situ. The Cactus Conservation Institute and Sia: The Comanche Nation Ethno-Ornithological Initiative, the Piah Puha Kahni, Mother Church of Comanche Native American Church 1918 Charter Association. I’m really interested in in-situ reintroduction of Lophophora. If anyone can suggest further resources so that I can learn more about it, please hook me up!
  10. Like many people at the moment, I have some extra time on my hands. I’ve come up with an idea for a collaborative project that I hope some of you clever SABers might be interested in. The project aims to create a working, annotated bibliography on psychoactive Acacia. Basically, the aim is to document and compile relevant evidence that could be useful for future research and the ethnobotanical community. This is the document we will be working on: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_OKwpo6q__Dlfr_dsLavAoKH1ycb0cv5oDSII1okVN8/edit?usp=sharing For all you lazy click hoarders, here is the text explaining the project and how to participate that is provided at the link. What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography takes a similar form to a reference list, but includes extra information. Alongside a list of sources, an annotated bibliography provides brief text descriptions of each source. The descriptive text should aim to summarise the content of each source and reflect on its relationship to the topic of the annotated bibliography. What is the topic? The topic of this annotated bibliography is psychoactive Acacia. This includes, but is not limited to Acacia acuminata, Acacia maidenii, Acacia obtusfolia, etc. Sources do not need to discuss Acacia psychoactivity specifically. What is our aim? To compile a working, comprehensive list of evidence pertaining to psychoactive Acacia capable of contributing to future research. Such research may concern ecology, harm reduction, economics, politics and other contexts. What should you do? In the first table below: · Provide your name or alias. · Identify the Acacia sp. addressed by the source. · Provide a full reference for each source according to APA referencing style. · Provide a link to the source, where possible. · Provide a concise summary of the content of the source. What was the source about? · Provide a brief reflective commentary on the source. How is the source relevant to the topic of psychoactive Acacia? How many citations has the source received? Do you consider the source to be of good quality? Why/why not? · Place your annotation row in alphabetical order (A-Z) of the first author’s surname. Sound like too much hard work? That’s okay! You can still contribute by suggesting sources to review. At the bottom of this document there is an additional table listing sources you would like to see annotated but don’t have time to annotate yourself. At a minimum, please include a link in this table. Ideally, you will provide a reference in APA format, too. If you have any questions, would like to contribute, or need help accessing a source, please get in touch.
  11. I recently listened to this interview with Keeper Trout. Skip the first 6 minutes or so for some interesting reflection on the Shulgin archives and Loph history/conservation. https://psychedelicsalon.com/salon2-033-the-psychedelic-archives-of-keeper-trout/ Damn KT gives me a mass cactus boner. Anyone got more lecture/interview content from him?
  12. Hey sagi, no, we are just manually scraping the data for now. We are using Google as a search engine, with search terms like 'site:https://www.shroomery.org/forums/ "trip sit"'.
  13. You're right Freakosystem, that's a good strategy for finding new terms and we will definitely consider additions to our list as we revise the data set.
  14. Thanks for all your thoughts guys, keep 'em coming!
  15. Good idea Zonad, thanks! I'll keep you guys updated.
  16. Hey Freakosystem, thanks for sharing your thoughts. You can definitely search for a number of words combined, but without manually reading lots of material it would be difficult to locate the example you have given in search results. Definitely a limitation of this methodology - we will always miss something unless we read all the content manually, which would be a monolithic undertaking We will be applying this search terms to posts on Shroomery and Nexus where we will also seek participant reflections on the project. Hopefully if we do miss something that could have been valuable another participant will point it out to us.
  17. Some colleagues and I are investigating how trip sitting is represented on psychedelic forums. I thought you guys might have some suggestions for search terms we haven't considered. At the moment our list is - List of search terms: Trip sit, sitter, care, monitor, guide, therap, hold space, holding space, presen, shaman Note search terms only need to include the root term (i.e. the root search term ‘presen’ will return results including ‘presence’, ‘therapeutic presence’, and ‘being present' etc.). Yummy terscheckii for attention.
  18. I was talking to a colleague about the conseracacian project and he brought my attention to a similar project concerning Bufo alvarius that I hadn't heard about. Their messaging strategy was 'save a toad, exploit a chemist', through which they are basically trying to encourage people to preference synthetic 5-MeO-DMT. Apparently there are two related articles on Psychedelics Today and a webinar, none of which I have been able to find. If I do locate them, I'll share them here. If anyone else knows how to access them, please do the same! Also interested to hear opinions on the ethics of smoking toad venom. When do you feel this could or couldn't be justified?
  19. Lots of finds in the Blue Mountains area
  20. Grafted up a bunch of Halycon Daze's unlabelled variegated seedlings. Stoked I'm not the only person in Toowoomba who is Tricho serious :D Looking forward to doing more work in his impressive garden! Unrelated but also got some of HD's chilli on my eyes and genitals today. Not so stoked.
