some panaeolus sp. in various states of decomposition. hard to identify them when they are like this, but from my experience the blackening with age is a sign of psilybin. the fatter stems on the two on the left, however, say possibly antillarum, but my instinct on the one on the right was active.

Hmm yeah I read on Wikipedia that the vaporisation temperature of nicotine is 247 C, but there is definitely a nicotine effect in the 200 to 230 C range. I haven't tried only tobacco as for me things like Damiana, wormwood and blue lotus resin greatly improves the astringent taste of the tobacco.

so the other day curiosity finally got the better of me and I put some ground up damiana, wormwood and good quality organic tobacco in a volcano vaporiser. I gave it a good 200ºC blast and inhaled. Yes it doesn't taste as good as what your supposed to put in a volcano, but compared to the usual pyrolysis route it allows much smoother, perhaps less intense but certainly interesting experience. it allowed me better appreciate what exactly the taste and effect of tobacco is as it wasn't obscured by the experience of consuming smoke. has anyone else tried this?

looks like panaeolus antillarum again. these guys are very hardy and prolific right down the east coast it would seem.

looks like this one I posted in another thread, which I was informed is panaeolus antillarum. there are also some other inactive panaeolus species around, one with a more copper coloured top and brown to red stem. when I was in Indo the locals reckoned they were active but wasn't convinced, no noticeable blueing. come to think about it, the fact that psilocybin containing mushrooms stain blue is quite convenient. it is almost like they want to be found...

out of about 8 chocolate habanero seeds a sowed in september, only 2 came up. this is one of them: I planted the seeds in one of those multi-site mini green houses. might have been a bit too cold for them, a heat mat is not a bad idea.

What exactly is the 'accident' the researchers are referring to? I think what they meant to say is that life is a 'natural' consequence of the Earth, and that it doesn't need a divine creator to be explained. Are biologists really still stuck in the creation vs evolution duality?

also found one cluster of actives (panaeolus cyanescens?) amongst the hundreds of the above mushrooms.

These mushrooms are popping up here in NSW at the moment. Pretty sure they are a panaeolus of some variety, possibly Panaeolus papilionaceus? It isn't obvious in the photo but there are veil remnants on the cap margin. They seem to like similar habitat as cubensis and meanies (i.e. cow dung in hot and humid grass lands), but fruit more readily and are more resilient to wind - they can be found in quite exposed areas such as hill tops with short grass. Back in QLD I often noted that in the paddocks this species grew, the actives did not.

Anyone here ever found any actives in the Fraser Coast area?

Yes cubensis can be found in the Hervey Bay / Maryborough area. The above pair were found just before Easter this year. As far as I could tell, conditions are not favourable for cubensis in that area due to the lack of a hinterland inducing rainfall; ie it is often too dry and windy. Also the cubensis season in se qld is always shifting around based on when the rain falls. You may have to wait a few months, but you should find some evebtually. Look for paddocks with tree lines with lush free grass that provides some shelter. -
looks like these seeds are most likely longifolia and not obtusifolia... sorry
