Pereskiopsis graft might be budding... should I cut the new pup?

Pereskiopsis graft might be budding... should I cut the new pup?
Philocacti replied to modern.shaman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
It'd be very interesting if it was flowering. I have a melted wax that's been grafted to stenocereus for 6 years now. The stenocereus is about 90 cm and the scion has 3 80 cm columns and 2 small pups. I was hoping it would flower for me this season, but there no signs of flowering. I'm with zed...I'd cut the pereskiopsis pup off. -
Since I have no experience with Trichocereus flowers, I thought the bud on top stalled or aborted. Yesterday I found that it's developing and now the sepals are growing. Somehow I can't adjust the light to take better pictures.

I must say, these "normal" TPMXN1 are growing pretty fast. Anyone else noticed that? -
Grafting is easy once you get the hang of it. Check this link out.... hostilis has gathered good info about different methods https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=50588 If you need more help, don't be shy to ask ;)

Trichocybin - your pictures aren't showing for me

Your crest is gorgeous. Why does it worry you that it doesn't have more spines? Grafting pieces of it isn't that tricky. Just pick a small "wave" of crested section. For example, the little pup could be grafted. I'll find you some good links about grafting. If you haven't done it before, don't try on this beauty. Just my opinion, not trying to impose my thoughts.

These are very sexy

Thanks I have a confession though, it took me 10 years to get the hang of growing columnar cacti. So the 1st 5 years or so, I stalled my whole collection, excluding lophophoras and ariocarpus. I somehow assume that in another 10 years, I'll say that it took me 20 years to understand growing columnar cacti :D I believe if I put a 30% shading cloth, I'll get more growth than what I'm getting. But I'll probably do this in a year or 2.

Nitrogen´s Connoisseur hybrids - pics and seed giveaway

I managed to graft a few TPMXN1 and only 1 SS02XLumberjackus, all the rest, including N1XTPQC, were eaten by doves. When I 1st noticed that something is feeding on these valuable seeds, I thought it was a rat, so I placed the trays on a higher level. 2 years later I found out that doves were the one feeding and scaring my cacti :S -
Mystical Oyster, what's the crest in your 1st pic?

I bought this 2 weeks ago and I was told it's a mammillaria monstrose. Anyone knows what this beauty is?

Collected some pollen with a q-tip. Then took off anthers with a forceps, as zelly advised. Will store them and use them when any of my others flower. Let's see how it'll go.

My Google images results were totally different, but the pics you post SJ look very similar to mine. And I agree, he probably picked it up from a nursery in Thailand. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate your efforts.

M.painterilooks more like it IMO. polythele inermis lacks the white tufts on the areols and the structure.

Thanks, I think it matches ;) Maybe it's related to the weather?

I feel like I'm in your shoes man. The difference is I don't have enough shade. So if I transplant in separate pots, I'll have to place them in direct sunlight, all day. And a lot of Trichocereus don't do that good in an all day direct sunlight spot.
