Beautiful score Wouldn't the girth be fatter if it was a hybrid? All my seed grown bridgesii are very skinny compared to other bridgesii crosses.

Koehres bridgesii I'll cut UT below these roots and plant it. -
Nitrogen´s Connoisseur hybrids - pics and seed giveaway

Most of the crests and monstrose specimen (all TPMXN1) I have reverted to "normal" growth in these last 2 months. This one still has a crested portion -
Beautiful specimen man You should post more ;)

Looking for Lophophora Pics For My New Project, Lophophora.de
Philocacti replied to Evil Genius's topic in Cacti & Succulents
According to kaktusy, L. koehresii L. fricii and L. diffusa are all in the Diffusae complex, while L. williamsii is by itself in its own complex. How about lophophora alberto-vojtechii? Is it a made up name by growers or seeds sellers? -
Thanks buddy. I used fine sand I found laying around, I never tried the recommended grade though.

I have been lucky enough to receive some SS01XTPM (T. peruvianus monstrosus). Some germinated, but most of them did not ... yet. I haven't lost hope. Most of what germinated didn't make it, as it seems the can't totally beak off the shell. Anyway, 5 germinated healthily and i grafted 4 of them. Only 3 took. These pictures are of the 1st graft i did. It's been a week now since i took it out of the humidity dome and it's growing very fast i guess.

I guess we'll be forever young then ;) So we can add this to the advantages of grafting. Grafting increases the size of the scion in a short period and it also keeps the "grafter" young. -
I totally agree, but both of these cuttings are sharing the same pot ;) I stopped using sand in my mixes as it clogs the soil...or so I f other when I used it.

I believe this needs it's own thread. I only got this grafted upside down stump early this season. It had a spiral pup on it. I grafted this pup but it failed and I cut the grafted stump in half and grafted it. The original graft has a crested pup, while the other half I grafted has 2 disc-shaped pups and a monstrose pup and 4 other unknown pups cuz they're to small. The original plant I received The crested pup on the original graft The other graft I know mutant has amazing specimen of it as well. I hope he shares some pictures too.

Update of these 2 (same clone) This one grew 60 cm this season And this one 50 cm Its kind of confusing me, since both are the same genetics and in the same pot and the started out the same height this season. I transplanted them though, so maybe I damaged more roots in the one with less growth.

A quick question, one of the flower buds started developing rapidly, however it's buried deep in the groves. Should I cut a piece of the graft to give the flower bud space or should I just let it be as it is? My priority goes to the flower more than the looks of the graft.
-
One flower bud, on the "not broken" graft, rotted. On the broken graft, one seems to have stalled and the other one is developing nicely. However it buried so deep I can't take a picture. I'll try to used a digital camera, maybe it'll work better than my phone.

Come on man......this is like saying you grow your cacti on their own roots cuz you didn't develop your grafting skills :s, which I believe isn't the case. Personally I enjoy grafting....hell I even graft mature trichocereus tips. It's like skipping seasons of "boring" growth so to speak ;)

To make it grow faster ;)

Since all the seeds of this species I ordered never germinate. I found a nursery in Germany, with EG'S help. I ordered 4 Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus v macdowellii to a friend in Germany. My friend stayed in Germany for 4 weeks. She watered frequently in an attempt to help. Yesterday I went to pick these guys up. And one of the 4 was rotting from the roots. I washed the healthy 3 from the wet soil. Since the weather here is hot as hell, they dried up in 10 min. Even the soil that I emptied from their pots dried up in this time period as well. So I potted them again. To be on the safe side, I won't water them for a week and I'm also introducing them to out harsh sun here. I did a few areol grafts, from whatever healthy tubercles that were left on the rotting specimen. I tried grafting Ariocarpus areols twice before but didn't succeed. But since this one's a goner, it wouldn't hurt to try. I also grafted a firm portion of the root and hopefully something is going to take. Any advice for better caring for this species would be appreciated This species is my favorite by far, so hopefully I'll collect all kotschoubeyanus variations, at some point in time.

Yeah, a few years back, bit told me that it looks like his T. argentenensis, however M S Smith said that argentenensis is a clone name rather than a true species and since I haven't received it as a argentenensis , then it probably isn't ;) Ive named it in the summer of 2011 but I've had this clone since 2005. The owner of the nursery told me he had him for over 50 years.

Happy grafted birthday man. Unlike most cacti, once you cut it, don't leave it to dry out.....just eat it fresh. It's probably not active. Therefore eating it fresh won't cause any nausea, but it will taste sweet. Do not make it into tea......eat it fresh.

I'm still getting the hang of these guys, so I underwater the remaining 2 on their own roots and hopefully I'll learn more about them next growing season ;) I don't understand what you mean.

That's a beautiful specimen

Hey, I think zelly can answer that better than me since he's got both clones in his garden. Let's see what he's got to say about it ;)
