    Shrooms in SA

Trich-Aura - your photo regains my hope in maybe someday finding the elusive sub! :D I can breathe a sigh of relief when i see that photo. question - i have a lot of pictures of subs (most likely the melbourne variety). I understand the sa and melb varieties vary - if anyone has any sa sub pics or links to pics, it would be of great assistance in identifying. Cheers! strangebrew, damn i havent even found any fly's yet -been a week since i've looked- maybe im looking in the wrong places. -I MIGHT go hunting again this wkend but will probably postpone it to next weekend, let it rain a bit more and let them youg subs grow a bit, I'll post pics if i find any. for the time being i'll join mescalito in his rain dance.

    Shrooms in SA

haha yeh we're polish. I don't know what these mushrooms are called in english, but the polish variety is a bit different (non-toxic) and can be eaten fresh or fried even (so im told). My dad and my bro when first picking the australian ones fried them up and they supposedly tasted really delicious then they had Mad-Diahrrea for days!! I'll try to make my way up to the hills soon. It's been raining all day today and i can still hear it raining outside, im pretty excited :D

    Chantarelles

strangebrew - well i'm no expert on edible wild mushrooms but i think milkcaps are allright. I've been eating them since my early childhood, my family and our friends would go pick milkcaps and fry them up there on the spot over a campfire. I haven't had any for a long time until recently. It just brings back memories - has a nostalgic feel to it I've only ever had them this way, never dried or in a soup or anything. Anodyne - true they do have a slightly bitter taste which is strange because i remember i used to love to eat these and now i think, "yeh they're ok... kinda bitter" I shall try out your method, probably use the garlic... mmmm garlic.

    Shrooms in SA

Went over for a look at Kuitpo today, with no luck. Only found a shitload of these brown slimy mushrooms with yellow spongy bottom, and white stems. I don't know what they're called, they're slightly toxic (give really bad diarrhea when not boiled) my mum dries them or puts them in soup. Also found some tiny purple shrooms but *sigh* no Subs or Fly's (or Cyans either for that matter). It has been raining pretty intensly today though so hopefully next week will be great! You think i should just head straight for the hills? cuz i have an hilarious feeling i wont find anything here.

hmmm okay im not sure then. What's Lactarius Deliciosus known as? It's a pretty big orange mushroom, with green stains, gilled bottom, hollow stem and bleeds an orangy milk when cut. - I think that's a milkcap right? but from strangebres description it's also known as the Chantarelle, am i wrong?

    Apology

hey theobromos what you talkin about? last election Saddam got 100% of the votes right? and you say he's unpopular also your post reminds me.. Mr. Kratom. Yes Saddam is an evil man - he's in the axis of evil which to my limited understanding of bush's religious theory means that all of iraq (and co.) are evil right? I remember this one really evil thing Saddam did was when he used chemical weapons on a shitload of dissident civilians cuz well, they didn't like saddam, yeh hmm and i think the US might of known about it, yeh im pretty sure they DID and you know what they didn't bat an eye. Funny how only after Bush Snr backed out of his agreement and decided he DIDN'T want Kuwait attacked and started gulf war 1 after that - did Saddam become the evil bastard we know him as now. Hmm floods of anti-bush thoughts coming back to me. You know what they said? THey said "all right all you rebels just keep fighting the evil saddam army we're behind you all the way we'll help you out with our loads of ammunition and huge guns" shorty after they pissed off, leaving .. -numbers escape me - but a LOT of people to be slaughtered by saddams army. Good thing Bush Jnr got his act together and decded to help the poor Iraquis his dad had shitted on earlier. [ 14. May 2004, 02:14: Message edited by: El Duderino ]

I totally agree with rev that many dissenting views are just silenced therefore we don't really exactly know who is pro the govt and who isnt. True there are polling systems but i suspect they aren't too accurate. Like to get this clear. Bush did NOT win the election. The majority did NOT vote for him, so to say Americans are stupid for voting for him is wrong, seeing as he cheated his way in. Sure it would have helped if more people voted for gore (the lesser evil) instead of nader or -even worse- no one at all. And all the people that voted for bush, well don't get me started on them. Sure everyone makes mistakes but common! Anyone remember the lead up to the election, Bush was stuttering and fumbling, mumbling incoherent alcoholic slurred talk. (ok thats unfair i know he's off the booze now To paraphraze michael moore - when they say Anyone can be president - They mean it! That is ofcourse as long as your daddy is an ex president with a whole load of political friends and contacts in power and vast vast amounts of cash from his oil business. hmm i seem to be digressing somewhat. Theboroms I am sympathetic to your view and i suppose i generally agree but im also generally against genearlisations. True Americans have proved on many occasions to be dumb rightwing christian creationist redneck hicks - i can still laugh (maybe i should cry) remembering cnnnn street interviews of people in america - im sure they only aired the super stupid but MY FREAKIN GOD! It's really incomprehensible what grown adults can say, hillarious really. But focusing on the idiots we forget that there are many intelligent individuals scattered amongst the masses of idiots (im sorry but it SEEMS the majority IS stupid. Of course i have no real way of knowing having never set foot in america). The smart thinking Yanks (j/k you can pay out my polish-ness if ya wish) need to vote for Kerry i don't think he's holding true to his original beliefs - doing the whole flip flop thing- but ABBA - "anything but bush again". If Bush is re-elected i will have lost my faith in the american peopleand i have a strong feeling it will get a LOT worse before it gets any better. by 2005 there is meant to be mandatory military service for 18-25 year old men and women with the period of time and the selection process to be decided by the president. - scary! hmm whilst on my small political rant: Howard is a wanker Downer is a spoilt brat of a childish idiotic foreign affairs minister that says, "ok america if you feel like holding david hicks indefinitely without charges and torture him and whatnot then that's just fine. Just let us know if you ever feel like letting him go so we can have him back and publicly chastise him over how shockingly disgraceful his actions have been" instead of saying "Fuck you america We're not gonna tolerate this shit holding him without ANY charges, we want our Citizen back home! - there we'll sort out any shit he May have done! instead of having him under your, many times proven to be, inhumane control" this shit just well... shits me! my 200cents. yep, parents ARE a hassle. I'd love to grow some cacti and whatnot but there's no way my parents would let me if they know what they do. My mum gets really upset about me smoking weed because she's REALLY worried. It's not anything to do with the social stigma or legality but she just thinks its dangerous and is worried for me. So i gotta lie and i feel shitty about it, when i move out i wanna be straight with her but don't want to upset her. Haha but this has nothing to do with you guys. Just wanted to point out that parents are a hassle! [ 05. May 2004, 23:58: Message edited by: El Duderino ]

    found some mushrooms

any reports of SA subs yet? I will most likely head down second valley way this sunday. Will let you guys know if i find anything. A family friend has just harvested a shitload of lactarius deliciosus(sp?) recently so we're gonna fry them up, it got me thinking that there could likely be some cyans or subs about. We've had a bit of rain lately (on and off with the occasional heavier downpour but nothing major) and it is going to clear up for the weekend. My question is: Do mushrooms dry up and get all yucky/not good after a while of dry weather (if so, how long a period, a week, more?). Few weeks ago i saw some mushrooms with a shitload of milipedes inside of them and i just hope i can pick these shrooms as fresh as possible but i can't go til the wkend. But then it should take about a week for the mushies to grow after a bit of rain in the 1st place right? Yeh just a few questions. If i find anything staining blue and looking promising i'll post some photos.

I'm going, thats all there is to it, im fuckin going seems Amsterdam is the place to be then, only off putting thing would be maybe the whole dutch speaking factor. I hear it's a kind of weird landguage??. I once heard that swizerland is going to legalise cannabis. I'd hang out in the italian province and go snowboarding everyday, either way this countries stupid drug laws have got me wanting to relocate, but i doubt i'd ever leave my dear australia, i love this country and apart from busting the balls, cops are often fair chill even if they bust ya. (not always, some are real bastards). Hey wasn't there once a pot smokers party? I'd sure as hell vote for them (if they give their preferences to labour, cuz i sure as fuck want Howard out). hmm i've digressed a bit.. my bad.

agreed, i think much more research for cannabis is definitely needed, i for one really want to know if there is any real risk of causing schizofrenia (not only triggering it in ppl prone to have the disorder) or other permanent psychological damage. Of course i want to know that about any drug i'd be taking but very little research has been done on illegal drugs mostly because uh they're illegal, whereas a LOT more ppl drink alcohol and therefore they research that. I'm hoping that due to its quasi-legal status in holland this will also be the case for my favourite plant. And i cannot believe how many times higher potency is argued to be a DANGEROUS thing, when clearly it is much safer than smoking huge amounts of, say very low potency, carcinogenic leaf (i think leaf is carcinogenic?). OBVIOUSLY a higher % requires less smoke for the desired result (as Plant Pimp has said), people aren't going to be getting any more stoned than they would usually anyway. less smoke, less danger, less bud smoked and less money spent! All good things!! It amazes me how ignorant many people are for using that argument!

ah thats bullshit! "LSD is a dangerous drug" yeh only if your a dumbarse and really believe you can fly! "why dont you go to the bottom floor and check it out first, you don't see ducks catching an elevator to go fly" - somewhat misquoted Bill Hicks

    Pretty Fly

last week on saturday went to second valley (SA)with my dad and we found a few, what we thought, were Lactarius deliciosus (they are pretty yum when fried). They were big suckers too, only later when we fried them up and they tasted bitter as shit we realised it was a misidentification, didn't eat enough to get sick or anything tho. there were a few other yellow mushies but not that much. It's rained a bit recently and hopefully will a bit more tonight. I will most likely go for another hunt on sunday, will let u guys know if i find anything. So how much rain is needed exactly? like a few days of solid rain or what? damnit I wanna find some soon!

    psilocin

And another bit of info on this page http://www.beyond-the-illusion.com/files/M...html#baeocystis "Potent" PSILOCYBE BAEOCYSTIS: Audubon Plate 86 p.719 Found in autumn and winter, solitary, grouped, or clustered on earth, lawns, mulch, and decomposing forest wood near scattered trees especially conifers - in western Oregon and Washington. It does well on Agar media at 77 degrees F. This is a potent species containing Psilocybin, psilocin, baeocystin, and nor-baeocystin. Perhaps it is because of the latter two alkaloids that it is the most visually hallucinogenic of the psilocybin mushrooms. There is a report that in 1960 a six-year old boy died after eating a large number of these mushrooms. There has never been any other indication that these alkaloids are dangerous. Until there is further clarification of this question, we advise that anyone using this species proceed with caution by starting with small doses and progressing gradually to larger ones. This is especially important when using the extracted crude alkaloids which may contain large concentrations of the baeocystin alkaloids.
