I searched a bit on the net and eBay but it’s hard to work out who’s legit and who’s full of shit and just wants to sell their junk saffron. Yesterday I found a bottle of saffron extract I’d bought at a fancy grocer a few years ago. It was pretty nice in a black tea with cardamom (and milk) drink! I’ll use that bottle to do my saffron alcohol

Hey Alchemica, do you reckon a small misting spray with Calamus and lavender might be something to carry around for someone with acute anxiety to spray under their tongue at onset? I’ve been making some gummies lately, and have some fresh orange syrup left to use. If I make a saffron alcohol tincture can I mix that with the syrup to make orange saffron gummies? I’m pretty sure I have Calamus oil from years ago, would that be effective? The gelatine has to be heated up enough to mix with the material, so would have to be heat stable to I’m guessing nearly 100C. Mint Geranium… I have a couple of small plants initially bought to line the bottom of chocolate cakes with the leaves (like my grandma used to), it’s intense enough to impart the minty smell and mild flavour to the chocolate. How would I go about utilising this? I imagine leaving the leaves in alcohol would just degrade the leaves. Maybe just leave the leaves in some grain alcohol and swish around for a couple days but no more?

That’s why there are fairly rigorous codes of ethics and legal obligations. It’s an inherantly tricky subject to navigate. Where there are humans there are human frailties. And in a setting of therapy/healing of ANY kind, there’s going to be a level of imbalance and therefore trust and responsibility. That’s to protect both parties as well. I’d guarantee that there would be plenty of cases throughout the ages where a tribe’s Shaman/Medicine Person/Healer/etc took their position for granted and abused that power - as I said human frailty. I’ve no doubt that in the vast majority of cases it would be terrible consequences for the victim. I’ve always thought the way to aiming for perfection (even if not actually achievable) is to build on the mistakes of the past with current knowledge. That is to say neither ignore or glorify the past. Use ALL tools available.

Years ago I confirmed there was 100% activity in extract from colubrina root, I’m dragging up a very old and vague memory, but I seem to remember that there was a layer of hard pale material within the root at some layer that I’m almost certain I didn’t use. I do remember 100% that I used the pale musky pink layer which had the unmistakeable smell of peanuts. The whole root had swollen up which is what precipitated me to want to use it, since I’d thought I’d killed the plant. anyway I remember there was one fundamental difference between extracting NN and 5meo which IIRC is 5meo doesn’t need non-polar solvent?? I never got around to doing NN extract because of a privacy/safety issue with the basification step and I couldn’t get a non-polar. So I figured there was something in the roots and guessed 5meo since it was somewhere else, and while I would’ve written down what I did I have NFI where that is, I DO remember using acetone because that’s what I had available. I’m guessing prob sodium carbonate since that would’ve been the strongest alkali I’d have had. the result was a very tiny amount of crystal scraped up. Pretty sure I remember sandwiching it with very noticeable effects from such a tiny amount. It wasn’t half a cone of changa noticeable, or freebasing crystal NN noticeable, and I wish I could remember what the actual effects were. It’s possible it could’ve been NN and I just burnt off most of it, or… it was 5meo. I’m not even sure I’d even had NN in any form when I did that. It was only around a year after I’d had any illicit for the first time, less than a year since I’d had acid the first time, and I was doing it all by myself and the wonderful info online. Problem with this as a source of 5meo? Not particularly sustainable! I’m looking up a bunch of shit now because I want to see what’s possible with peregrina twigs/phyllodes

I had assumed all this time it was just in reference to the left side (the benzene?) not sure why tho. very fascinating about fungi having different enzymes compared to animals and plants in that part of the process! i had a rudimentary understanding of how a molecule binds to a receptor, and how a seeming,y minor difference can have big practical differences (for example how one isomer can be far more potent than the other), but I hadn’t really clicked about the difference in the receptor subtypes either… ah man I feel satisfied with that answer like you wouldn’t believe lol. thank you again :D

I have a question for anyone who understands this more than I do (which is sadly still very little lol). I’m curious at what point and WHY is the hydroxyl group on the 4 position for psilocin 4-HO-DMT, compared to why it’s on the 5 position for Bufotenine 5-HO-DMT? Also, are there hydroxyls Off 1/4/6? I’m guessing they can’t be off 2/3 position due to the Nitrogen and Carbon atoms respectively? Is it because a hydrogen atom is shunted off more easily? In as minimalistic way I can get my query across lol. I see that according to the map and notes it mentions phosphorylation which IIRC relates also to the Difference between psilocybin and psilocin? But what in the great crippled fuck does that even mean? the reason I’ve been curious is the massive difference in effects between for example 5ho, 5meo, and nn; or baecystein(sp?) and aeruginacin to psilocin. I don’t even have my copy of TIKHAL atm but I probably wouldn’t understand anyway.
