dont worry at all about them. give them heaps of water and they will survive anything. i've done lots of cuttings in my time and it's definitly not uncommone for 1 in 8 to go black. but the important thing is to keep watering them. most of the cuttings that have turned black for me have looked pretty miserable however a few weeks later they will push out a lil green shoot from the black stem. the new growth will be fully climatized to its new environment. amazing isnt it? the worst thing, IMO, is the humidity dome. what the humidity dome does is keep the plant addicted to humidity and she suffers terrible withdrawal when she doesnt get it of if a gusty winds blows out the humidity. if it were me, i'd first check how her roots are by gently removing her from the pot and tease the roots so the soil is removed. if she has a good amount of roots then re pot her and remove the humidity dome. then saturate the entire thing. the top may turn a lil black but the new growth will be climatized to the new environment. it's not nice to see your plant turn black and look like it's dying, but in the end it will be for the best. i've tried growing in full sun, shade, the dark, in humidity domes, in hot environments, in colder ones, etc but the best formular i've found ins no humidity dome, shade, crap loads of water and rich rich loose soil. i've noticed that the plant will apear MORE velvety if kept in an environment with low levels of humidity and the rich soil gives it a deep green colour wich i can only assume is good. strong sun reduces velvetyness and makes the leaves wrinkled however they grow a lil faster. tempurature doesnt do alot when greater then about 25*c however lower temps sometimes slow growth, especially at realy low temps. at these temps they should be protected from frost or ultra cold rain like in the middle of winter. wind can also hurt her ps they seem to LOVE rich rich soil. i planted one in a shady compost heap and the leaves are the darkest i've ever seen a salvia and they are beautiful and velvety. i'm sorry guys, i always rant like mad when it comes to sally's

my loph is blushing slightly on the sides from too much sun. Is this going to injure her? Or will she be fine? I think she's kinda pretty with her pink skin but i dont wanna hurt her. Thoughts anyone?

i'm not planning to eat her any time soon so i don't mind how slow she grows. As long she is healthy.

i'll start by saying sorry if this is in the wrong thread, seeing as its not a plant or seed. long story short, i met a guy today who had aquired a 25L permethrin concentrate ready for dilution. dilution ratio is 1:160 and of course, the dilutant is just water. the guy paid $300 for it but realy just wants to get rid of it for $150 for the lot. he'd like to get what he'd paid for it but realy just wants it out of his house. when watered down, the product is labled an ant and spider spray. it is from the factory he works at. i just thought i'd do the guy a favour and see if anyone here wants it? life time supply of spider spray for a bargain! victoria only as i'll prob have to drop it off personally. he eont sell it by the liter and i dont think he'd be down for trading either. just $$$$ any takers? Edit: i'm not gonna play postie for 25L of permethrin concentrate for nothing! So $150 minimum for the lot

so far its 4 names now, that includes you madhouses, plus whoever wants to be in it at the melb plant meet. The melb meet Just seems like an appropriate place to draw it less then 3 weeks to go before the draw! Sorry its so far away. I dont even know if they will survive, i hope they do. Hopefully they do, but dont worry, if they dont the winner will still get something good. Be sure of that.

actually, the pic shows a lil crap has fallen in the capsule
-
the capsule has 5 parts: the cover the pot/cup the soil in the cup the plant in the soil the rubber ring everything but the rubber ring is pretty self explanatory from the pics. th trick is in the soil and rubber ring. first the soil is packed in quite tight so it cant realy fall. as well as this, there is a stiff rubber, perhaps soft plastic ring that sits around the base of the plant, held above the soil and wedged into the top of the cup. if you nook carefully at the pic, you can see this ring. this leaves a lil, roughly 10mm hole in the middle of the ring for the plant to grow in. as long as its packed in propperly, it doesnt seem to fall too much into the capsule

why is 3 weeks ago so far away...

or just road trip it down to melb

i still have the box they cam in so it will look very nice and professional when it makes it to the winners door; like a bought one! which it is.. i guess.. the only prob is it's mostly in japanese or chinese or something, but i guess you plant heads should be clever enough to work it out. lotsa water and a lil sun and she'll be right! the lil cuties..

this is them so far, very promising, even if they haven't grown leaves yet ;) so far i got three who want there name in the hat, plus whoever will be at the plant meet at melb.
-
if i remember i'll raffel it at the next melb meet in a few weeks if i remeber. I'll take everyones name down that have shown interest here in a pet plant and pull names out of the hat there, so i got whitnesses and that ;) everyone will have an equal chance that way. Even you rahli. I'd give you a potted pet plant if you were in my state, but your not

ya guys, i thought i'd check with you guys first before i go on a store to buy some seeds. it doesnt matter if there not viable. i had some once but didnt realy know what i'm ment to do with them so they were wasted. anyone got any yopo/Anadenanthera colubrina? thanks!
-
fancy pants: i'd rather share them because i am nervouse about my seedling sucess. between the four of us, we should have at least one good plant, ya? ;) santiago, so ya, i think fancy pants should have 1 or 2 of mine, if the others are willing to share ;) with that said, i couldnt bring myself to waste viable seeds on my own selfish endevourse. does anyone know a reliable source for yopo seeds? santiago, perhaps you could get me in touch with your loine clothed shaman friend? :D please? pm me?
