    Show off your freaks

Nice. Come on mushyman dont hold back I want more info what, were and how. Is that one of Hellonasties ? If you haven't already thought of it take a couple of small pieces off the bottom ( on each side) and graft them to Trich stock. It will make it easer to root / grow plus you will have another couple the same sort of size in around 12 months. I have taken pieces off most of my Trich crest's and grafted them. I am wrapped with the results 0 fails. Cheers Got

Still in trouble with my L. williamsii

Don't just put it out in full sun you will burn it. Dappled shade or under shade cloth 50 to 75 percent. If you are in Aussie land it should be loving the warm weather and growing now. How much water has it had. I think you can ether take it back out of the pot and check the roots and also check for rot or if it seams ok other than just a bit soft you could try watering it ( only if you havent watered it recently ) I don't grow my Lophs in soil with much organic matter so I water mine quite often. I would also take the top dressing of rocks out for the time being so you can check your soil to see if is dry or not. It is a bit hard to tell from the photo but when a Loph is dehydrated or could do with a drink it looks like it has been deflated and they sink back into the soil. Cheers Got

    Giant pumpkin contest!!

I certainly haven't counted any one out for the win especially not you WB. The Tassie boys have been known to be slow starters but when they get going................................................................................................................................... who knows what will happen. I am mainly hoping to keep people interested in there own grows as it must be hard when Skillman has produced that monster in just on a month. Ok the first item in the prize pack is a nice fat Len pup ( Peruvian ). To make it fair I will also supply a custom made pumpkin trophy for the winner as well. Cheers Got

    Giveaway with a twist

If this was up for sale or trade there would be a number of people here and mainstream cacti collectors that would be wanting this and be willing to pay large amounts of money for it.Tipz knows the sort of money that myself and a few other here would be willing to pay. Now I need to go and do some reading so I can try and win this. I will be back in a few days. Cheers Got

I was thinking I had missed the comp where he actually grew a pumpkin. Might be he talked about it so much he convinced himself that he grew one. Cheers Got

  14. As Sally said above that is the way to post as a clickable photo. To place a photo full size into your post without placing in your gallery first you need to be hosting you photos on flickr, dropbox or many of the others around. You are supposed to be able to then use the image button to place in your post or use the bb codes but I still cant work that out. The simplest way I have found is to copy and paste the hosted image into the post. Copied and pasted from my flickr account Cheers Got

    Fungal pathogen?

I did have a quick google to see if there was any wetting agents in it but you are saying you used a powder form so I doubt whether that is it. Are the marks all over it or are they just on the one side. If its only on the one side and especially if its the side that gets the most sun you would think it has come from an external source. Slug Wars: A New Hope

Snails and slugs have been shocking here this year. My Pere mothers are just sticks not a leaf to be seen. Most of my Trichs have got some damage to there tips. The worst has been this Mammillaria bocasana it had snails and slugs living down inside it and they munched there way from the inside out which caused rot. I have lost over half of this plant. One complete side has gone. I new it was happening but couldn't get in there to get rid of them. I have recently started spraying it with copper as I can now spray in from the side with all of the damage. Little slimey bastards. :uzi: :uzi: Cheers Got

    Fungal pathogen?

Sad to see marks like that on such a good looking plant You didn't splash something on them. It looks like a burn to the skin if it wasn't for the marks being right down in the V I would have thought sun burn from something being splashed on them. Cheers Got

    Mold in seedling container.

I have used straight store bought hydrogen peroxide ( 3% ? ) many times with out any adverse effects. I have recently washed seeds in it before sowing as I have had mould grow on the seeds themselves not from my sterilised mix. If you think about it its a good practice to wash all seeds before sowing as there is a very good chance that you are putting contaminants into your sterilised and clean container if you don't. Another thing that is good to know about hydrogen peroxide is not to keep it in a clear spray bottle. I have a small pump spray bottle that I have painted black and it seems to keep ok in that for a reasonable period of time. Cheers Got
  23. Nothing wrong with seesol I love it but its not a fert but more of a tonic. Does wonders for stressed plants and just seems to make most plants look healthier. Seems to work on the root systems and make them perform better. This is all just my opinion and I am a mechanic not a horticulturist Cheers Got

  25. There is definitely more to getting Trichs to flower than just hight. The age of the original tip cutting can make a big difference in the first year. I have had and seen many times tip cuttings that are not even rooted or have just rooted flower but then not flower the next year. I have six foot Trichs that haven't flowered but I also have a 50 cm Yowie that flowered last year. The season before last the only Trich that flowered was a six foot plus Pach cutting then last year after the move I had six Trichs flower and now this year I mite get one or two to flower but if they do they will be very late. Cheers Got
