Just got back from Southeast Asia and was detained by quarantine because I have a headache and fever. After 5 minutes they let me go, they don't seem too worried. I'm sorry but I haven't read through this whole thread, I just want to point out that the reason we are getting all these horrible pandemics is becasue of our gross overconsumption of meat and the conditions in which we keep our animals (anybody who has seen Earthlings will know what I'm talking about) Anyway, Avaaz says that Swine Flu originated from the hog-waste pools of the giant pig 'factory farms' run by an American multinational corporation in Veracruz, Mexico. I honestly don't know how good these things are, as the only real changes that can occur will be shifting human thinking and ultimately human behaviour... Nonetheless, they have a petition to sign if you're interested. It will go directly to WHO, urging them to investigate and regulate these horrible places.

Tried the Lonely Planet forums, there seems to be a lot of uptight people there, so I figure I'll ask you guys.... If anyone has been to Ang Thong Marine National Park (off the coast of Koh Samui/Koh Phangan), would you be able to tell me if it's possibe to hire your own boat/kayak and explore the archipalago by yourself? Or even swim from Island to Island, I don't mind a bit of a swim... I really want to explore these stunning islands, but at my own pace, and not with a whole bunch ot tourists who will just as likely as not philosophically respect the ancient power of these places...

Love the volcano, but does anybody else find it strange/annoying that a single chamber needs multiple vaporisations in order to use up the herb, with each successive vaporisation getting noticeably weaker? Also, has anbody heard any anectodes of people using the volcano for Divine Moments of Truth?
