a little cutting I have recently aquired..and a question...
XipeTotec posted a topic in Cacti & Succulents
I picked up this great cutting the other day, of a puruvianus like persuasion. It is about a metre high, and fat. I was considering rooting and growing in a large pot as is. What do u guys think? do you think that it wouldnt grow as successfully as a smaller cutting would? have any of you rooted and planted such a large cutting? -
have u seen border security?

what about your anus?

I just got a cutting yesterday, with this sort of damage. There is no way though that before we hacked it off, that this plant could have established this damage from being a cutting. Therefore, I would disagree that the cause is that which you suggest.

wasnt teotz after this one?

there is actually another thread debating the benefits of fluoride, which was running a few months ago. The reason I asked, is because I didnt know JD's stance on the matter... although, I spose I could guess -

only one problem... your location. Not many here would be able to receive your gift. Evil genius may be able to... but I don't know anything about euro customs. -
situations like making speeches? it's normal to feel anxiety in some situations. I believe that it is something that can be addressed without drugs.

ahhh, ic, I have misread the passage. I knew that harmal was a reference to syrian rue... I just thought that was what was being debated. Ill read more carefully next time.
-
not sure where syrian rue is exactly located...or the sinai desert for that matter!! but my educated guess would be that the plant referred to would be syrian rue. Fungal.... wouldnt the name "harmal" suggest a relation with harmine containing species rather than a DMT containing species?

regardless of the fermentation process. The yoghurt maker was only suggested as its function is to keep a temperature at an ideal to promote the bacterial activity. Tantra... yogurt makers can be purchased from big w etc. They are basically a big thermal flask.

good luck!! -
i dont really know much that will speed up rooting... but other may know some secrets. Bare in mind though... I have had cuttings take 12 months to root, but other have rooted in 3 weeks. The major reason not to plant until rooted is to prevent rot. This is especially the case in damp medium. I personally would never plant an unrooted cutting into ground, as you will lack some control over conditions, such as moisture.
-
oh, btw, I wouldnt place strait in ground without rooting 1st. I usually sit my cuttings in a dry area, on DRY potting mix, until they shoot roots. Another thing I have noticed this year, is cacti I have had in pots, have grown much more than those planted directly into ground in spring. I have put this down to better concentrations of fert (and generally more often fertilised), and more efficient watering.

if i saw top half only, id say bridgesii, bottom half only, id say peruvianus.... as a whole... I guess I would have to lean towards peruvianus. Im sure someone else could tell you with more conviction.

i would have said pach at 1st glance... but it looks like it may have had spines cut off.... is that the case?
