Psilocybin Mushrooms of SE QLD, Australia

I tried a spot known to have cubes around the qld/nsw border. I could only find ones that looked like this. Most were golden ontop but some odd ones had purple caps. They all had the exact same veil on their stems. Could someone please help me Identify them? Some where Identical to the cubes I’ve seen in field except for the veil and no bruising.

Yeah I guess so. The ones that got ravaged by them were the older looking end of the batch. I dehydrated a second batch around 80 degrees. There were a couple caps that had possibly 1 or two maggots here n there, from what I’ve read there shouldn’t be anything too serious to be concern about. I hope they right, but also I feel like I unknowingly do this all the time anyway.

One more thing. RC, is your book still available?

Also any tips for cleaning? I gave the first batch that went in my dehydrator a good rinse, but the ones under fan I was too scared to have them soaked. Hence they haven’t been rinsed but I did brush off most of the dirt. Can this be a problem?

Half of my pull didnt fit in my dehydrator, so I left so under a fan instead. A bunch have been munched on by some type of grub/larvae all day. Is it worth drying or trying to salvage them?

Northern NSW. Got lucky and found some mega fauna. The cap on the left measured to about 25cm in diameter from its longest points. It was honestly too big to carry. The one the right was the biggest fresh specimen.

I think you are spot on with Panaeolus antillarum. I will have to look into them and do a bit more learning to differentiate the pan species next time I’m out. I checked on them over 5 minutes but unfortunately there was no bruising. I somehow did not spot a p.cyan anywhere but also gave up checking them out after the first few patches didn’t bruise. They do seem to thrive in the same conditions as the cubes, which is good to know. Would cyans prefer different conditions to cubes in our climate or would it be more likely that there is just a lack of population and spores in the area?

Thanks RC. Would you know what these deceiving mushrooms are? They were throughout a patch of cubes and the bigger one almost got me until i looked at the stem. they had white/golden caps, black spores, thin white stem which was brown and non hollow when snapped. The cap was also pointer than a cube.

Thanks RC, I’ve been a long time lurker of these forums and it makes me happy to know you’re still active. I tried a high elevation and low elevation paddock on that day. The low one was nice and moist but most of the cubes were waterlogged. This might be a dumb question but would the high humidity we’re currently having still produce some good cubes with minimal rain? Specifically for my low elevation spot, as I want to try avoid going again when it’s waterlogged.

Walked 4 fields only to find one big fella, has it been sparse for anyone else?
