Depends on your climate I suppose. I sow seeds all year round Here in the subtropics (arguably the best climate ever). I have a basic greenhouse and a few heat mats and some plastic tubs and mini propagation dome things. I Just germinated some silene capensis and some Syrian rue aswell as some nicotiana and datura varieties coz why the hell not. Where there is a will there is a way.

I don’t fuck with perlite. At all. Personally I’ll use whatever I have on hand or can get a hold of. My local landscape yard had 5mm riverstone that i bought in bulk so I always add that. Scoria from bunnings is a nice addition. (Best to give it a good rinse first) and in the pool section at bunnings is a product called zeochlor which is 3mm zeolite. Woolworths cat litter in the orange bag is 100% zeolite (it’s very economical) but also needs a thorough rinse. Only ever use sand if it’s coarse and sieve and rinse the Jesus out of it.

I was tidying up my seed stash and have put together a few bundles of ethno seeds.
Did a giveaway on sabs fb group and I’ve got 1 seed bundle left to give away for SAB forum peeps with 9packs of seeds:
hbwr, syrian rue, n.rustica, n.tabacum, a.acuminata, Heavenly blue Mg,
op giganteum poppy, mugwort & d.stramonium. All viable seed and useful additions to your garden.
If you are interested in growing these just drop a comment and I’ll randomly pick a recipient in the next day or so.

I directly know of a family friends nephew in uk (mid 20s and healthy) who died a couple weeks back. He had flu like symptoms, went to doctors and got the all clear but symptoms persisted so he felt it necessary to see doctors again. 2nd visit had him testing positive for covid19. He was then admitted to hospital after a day his mum called the hospital to check in and see what was happening with her son and if she could come and visit, the nurse said nonchalantly that he only had about 10minutes to live and by the time she made it through all the checkpoints his body would be gone. Pretty grim story. I have friend who is a senior rn who has been pulled from desk work and back into “frontline” because they need all Hands on deck. She said it’s fucking chaos. As for the Tanzanian pres, he has a rep of being a incompetent overlord douche. For eg: Inspecting people’s bum holes to make sure they aren’t participating in anal sex. I’d say he is trying save face in front of his people because his lack of attempts at prevention. Putting the lives of the Tanzanian people in gods hands. Nice strategy. I don’t think we’ll ever get the full truth on how serious the virus is or isn’t but regardless it is a perfect opportunity for the string pullers to inject some fear into the masses and make some major moves whatever they may be. Is everything we hear about it all hyped up and sensationalised like the majority of shit is?, maybe... After ease of restrictions in Aus The 2nd wave will roll thru soon enough which will be interesting. I dunno if this my words makes sense Feel like I’m rambling, I’m tired.amd I’m fucking conflicted and perplexed by all the corony baloney drama. What I do know is I can smell oppression in the air. Ps. Your mate owes me 5 hunj

My big brother had this on vinyl. As a youth I would thrash this tune. Seems relevant. Here it is.

Hey gang. Hope everyone is well. Sifted a shit tonne of soil which kept me busy. Chore! The monotony was therapeutic tho.
Making soils mixes for cacti, Potting up cactus, sowing poppies and been pruning hard, clearing old plants out.
Kind of felt like the yard was getting swallowed by plants so I’ve opened it up a bit. A lot more sun coming in too. I’ve got a bit of grafting to do but I’m putting it off for the colder months when there is less to do outside. i have Sown some dream herb seeds. (African & Mexican)Put some stramonium seedlings in the ground. Sowed some datura wrightii, tatula, metel and more stramonys.
Heres some recent pics from the garden.Plectranthus amboinicus aka Mexican mint.
